Cutting Teflon Bushings

8/2/00 Cutting Teflon Bushings

I took my sheet of teflon to work today to cut the bushings out with a hole saw. The original bushings were 30 mm across, so I found the right size saw to cut the hole. The saws were SAE, but once I get the bushings cut out of the sheet of teflon, I can trim them down to size on François’ lathe. I needed eight bushings per car, so I decided to cut 24 of them so we would have enough for my 330 America, a 275 GTB François is restoring, and a spare set for the next Ferrari gas tank we pull out. Normally, you wouldn’t need spare Ferrari gas tank bushings, but around François’ shop, you do!
