Thinking about the Grill

I have been very busy at work, so I haven’t had any time to work on the Ferrari. It really is a shame considering how close I am to finishing, but I’ll somehow find the time!

Up at my house, I’ve been looking at the grill, trying to plan on how I will fit the whole thing together.

The pieces have all been fabricated by Mike Sewell, but it needs to be fitted to the chrome grill shell that fits in the nose of the car.

The chrome shell has a key that is supposed to fit into the aluminum shell, but since all of the aluminun pieces are new, I will have to make this keyway in the new aluminum shell.

Here is what the original grill shell looks like. Unfortunately, there is not much aluminum between the slot, and the key way, so I’ll have to be careful when I’m forming the aluminum. I have the added problem of a weld that was placed where I need to do the hammering. Hopefully the weld won’t crack when I’m trying to form the shape. We’ll see!
