Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca
Saturday of Monterey Weekend was spent at Laguna Seca Racetrack to see the Monterey Historic Races.
Porsche was the featured marque, so there was a lot of German machinery. The club parking area was filled with all sorts of 911s, and surprisingly few 356s. I guess with the proliferation of 911s, the 356 is becoming more and more scarce.
There was always great things to see in the paddock area. Although these cars have nothing in common except their nameplate, these Bugattis spanned several decades of automotive design. There are very few places in the world where you can get a chance to walk around an EB110 parked next to a Type 35.
I spent my obligatory inspection of all the Bugatti engines that had their hoods open. I just love the way these engines look!
While looking at some Alfas with some friends, I was shown a neat set up someone had done to their shifter linkage. This GTV had a bracket that allowed a more controlled and stronger shift linkage by using heim joints and a slider mechanism. I love racer’s ingenuity!
Just a reminder, I’m looking for a new Vintage Ferrari Project. If you have, or know of a restoration project, please let me know. It would be great to restore another car on this website! My E-mail.
