330 Water Pumps
12/7/12
330 Water pumps
The black 330 that was here a couple of months ago is back for a few winter projects, and one of them was to replace a water pump seal.
We were pretty lucky with this one, as everything came out easily.
Across from the car I was working on, Francois was working on getting the 330 engine we just rebuilt bench fired to check for leaks. It was a little like a Frankenstein setup, but it worked pretty well. We cobbled together a spare exhaust system, radiator, fuel pump, oil gauge, water temp gauge, and tachometer for the test. All systems seemed fine until we noticed a drip coming from the water pump!
I guess it was the week to fix water pump seals. Even though this one was brand new with a new impeller plate to match, it wouldn’t seal properly, so out it came to install new parts again. It was a lot easier to change these parts than the water pump seal I just did on the other side of the garage!
