All the parts arrived for the transmission this week, so we started reassembling the gear box.

Francois showed me the process of how to disassemble and reassemble a Ferrari Transmission. He said working on this 330 2+2 transmission is a good place to start as the later transaxles are more tricky. Francois taught me the way he was taught at the Ferrari factory which is based on a “feel” for the moving parts. There are specs for gear back lash and clearances, but he also showed me how the gears should “feel.”

There a bunch of traps that can come back and bite you, as we’ve seen with the work from the last guy, but if you’re careful and methodical, things should work out fine. The true test will be the next one we rebuild when Francois be looking over my work and checking each step of the way!
