330GTC Steering Box

The chrome trim came back from the plater so I was finally able to finish the installation of the windows.

As I was working on the GTC, I saw a small spot of oil forming under the car. As it grew, I knew it could only be from the steering box and the lower seal was leaking.

Although I just replaced the lower seal on another 330GT about a month ago, the GTC steering box was a little more involved. Ferrari tied in the steering box with the front suspension, so it needed to be partially disassembled to access the steering box.

Knowing all this in advance helps with the process of replacing the seals. There’s actually a sequence that has to be followed to get the box out. Some bolts are not accessible until other parts are loosened and moved out of the way. It’s just another quirk of these old Ferraris!
