I've owned 4681 for 6 years. I bought it shortly after it was
auctioned by Coy's in the UK. Before that it seems to have spent
some time in Belgium after returning to Europe from the US, where it was
in the possession of Harry Chew(?). In Belgium in about 1986 it was
repainted the current colour. Current mileage is 93000, so the engine
smokes a little - not unacceptable yet though. Best trip so far was to
the Le Mans 24 hour race, which is not too far for us to drive. One
or two parade laps of the Silverstone circuit were fun too.
In the time I've owned the car only a small amount of work has been
necessary but only a small mileage has been covered. Rear radius
arm bushes have been replaced and the prop-shaft doughnut too. New
stainless steel centre and rear exhaust pipes have also been fitted, together
with a new
brake servo. The carbs regularly leak fuel despite several attempts
to overcome this with replacement float chamber gaskets and jets - I am
thinking now that the cause is linked to infrequent use.
