It's funny, my 330's mechanical fuel pump works great up until the ambient temperature reaches exactly 85 degrees F. A degree higher, and it starts to stall at stop lights without assistance from the electric fuel pump!

Re: My GTC died on the freeway...argghhhh!
Seems like I remember a post about a crack occurring in the fuel pickup in the tank. The tank had plenty of fuel but once the level was below the crack you get no or little fuel. Might be worth a look considering it seems to be a delivery issue. Mike On Steve's GTC the pickup is at the lowest point...

Re: 62 250 GTE Fuel pump questions
Hi Andrew,
The electric pump pushes fuel from the rear of the fuel rail and puts out about 3psi. How much does the pushrod move? Its total movement is only about 3mm, so it is critical to set a minimum amount of backlash on the pump lever .

Re: GTE Overdrive
Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! Yes, you can test the overdrive with the key on engine off, in 4th gear to see if the solenoid is energized. It will make a distinct click at the tail of the overdrive when the lever is activated. Yes, warm. I found my personal car can sometimes stop working when ...

Re: GTE Overdrive
Hi All, Early overdrives shared the gear oil with the transmissions, while later cars had separate chambers. The way to tell is usually the rear tail section of the transmission will have separate fill plug. It sounds like the electronics are working as you hear the click, but make sure it's coming ...

Yeah, not a fan. I can understand people justifying saving a car that was too far gone to save because it was economically unfeasible, but when selling examples for about a million bucks, any reasonable donor will make sense. I know there are friends of mine that disagree with me, so it's often the ...

Hi Peter,
I can tell you a freshly rebuild gearbox is not slow in 2nd gear, but its design probably wears faster than the other synchro rings.

Re: 308 air cleaner spacers
Hi Pete,
The step in the gasket calls for the spacers to sit under the air cleaner. Your idea makes sense, but does not follow their logic!

Re: Water pump leak?? need some advice
Hi Michael,
It's probably leaking from the weep hole because of the water pump seal. Even if it is the gasket, the water pump would have to come out and the seal replaced.

HI Laurent, Try calling T Rutlands and ask for Dave in their Monterey office. Call the main number and they can redirect you. I would also suggest calling GT Car Parts, but Bill Young has a habit of not returning phone calls. There are members on this site that live near Bill and may have better luc...

$419 hammer! I guess my car may be worth a little more. I saw this car in person back in August in Salem OR: http://tomyang.net/?p=21327 . The car was running and driving but was right on the precipice of needing a full restoration. I spoke to several people about this car, but I had no idea it woul...

Re: Fixing oil leaks on the 250Ellena
Hi Tom, the 3.0 litre Colombo motors do not have a crank nose dampener, so the timing case is capped off. In this picture that cap is off and one can see how that screwdriver trick might do the job. But do you recall if that trick can be done with the motor in place? If so, did it require removing ...

Re: 250 GTE Parts Catalogue thread
HI Andrew, This obviously a SI 330 exploded view and very different to what is found on a GTE. The SI is also different from the SII 330s because it has a different stalk set up. SI cars have an overdrive switch on the right side of the steering column with the wiper switch found on the dash. The SI...

Hi Ed, If you remove the tensioner, the right side of the chain can loosen enough to skip a tooth on the crank sprocket. I've removed the tensioner with the engine on a stand, and managed to get get everything back in position, but it can be tricky to do it in the car. I had the valve covers off and...

Re: fuel pump rebuild
tom why couldn't I just put it back together, and watch it fill an emptied Fispa fuel regulator/filter bowl? m It's hard to judge exactly how much fuel is being pumped into the glass bowl and at what rate. seeing how fast it's filling a container can confirm if it's providing enough fuel at idle. N...
