Re: Ferrari 250 GTE Overdrive ang Gearbox oil

Hi Chris, The Laycock/DeNormanville overdrive work best with 30 weight non-detergent motor oil. I can sometimes find it at the autoparts store, but as with everything, I'm sure you can get it on the Internet. I know with my overdrive with a split oil case, there are two fill plugs for the transmissi...

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi AD,

That deserves a "dope slap!" (welcome to the club. I've received plenty myself!)

Thanks for telling us about the mistake. You had us all over the world struggling at what could possibly be wrong.

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi AD, I've re-read your post, and I question how do you know it's running rich? It's hard to tell just from standing behind the, despite your burning eyes! What do the plugs look like? Are they sooty black, or are they brown? The pop you're describing at the carbs may actually be a lean pop back at...

This is from a 365GT 2+2 manual
There was a supplement that says US spec cars used 58s, but the idle jets look correct at 60.

How are you setting the float levels?

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi AD, Understand, the main jets don't affect how rich it idles as much as the idle jets. I will check tomorrow what the jet sizes should be for a 365GT 2+2. I will try to photograph which ones I'm talking about so there is no misunderstanding. How many turns out on the idle mixture screws are you r...

Re: A week in Tom Y's Life...

Hi Tom, What I didn't divulge was the last minute phone call from my contractor working on the warehouse I manage wanting to work inside on a rainy day last week. I had a mad scramble to move 6 cars and cover them with plastic sheeting in time for the work! If work was that much fun, it would be cal...

Re: Bendix Bonaldi Brake booster 250 GTE

Hi Christopher, For those trying to follow a one sided conversation, I emailed Christopher privately, and told him the check valve is located where the vacuum hose connects to the booster. There is a fitting with a rubber seal that allows air to flow in one direction. I'm glad it was fixed for a lot...

OK, I found where I saw it. It was in Francois' parts stash! Now the question is how much does Francois want to sell this piece. It's the last one he has!

Re: Help identifying these screwdrivers

Not like Horse shoes and hand grenades..., these are all close, but not good enough. I don't think the original wood handled ones had any writing on them, let alone had the shafts go all the way through the handle. The original plastic handled ones did not have heat treated tips. They might pass at ...

I could have sworn I've seen this mechanism brand new somewhere! I know you can open it up, weld, and file the tooth to the right shape if you have the patience like Terry suggests.

Re: 250 GTE brake light switch needed

Hi there, anybody who has a functional brake light switch for my 250 GTE 2+2 for sale? regards, Martin Hi Martin, As you can see from this thread, it will require some work to get your brake light switch to work. I'm not sure if there is a "plug and play" option. You can try the usual sup...

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi A.D., How many turns out are the idle screws? Even if they're turned out too much, it shouldn't run as rich as you're describing! I would assume Mike Pierce checked all the jets to be correctly sized and corrected anything that was wrong. Are you sure the floats aren't stuck open and dumping fuel...
