Len
I went down the same road back in the mid-1970's that Len did a short time later (and probably with the same group). Introductions...what model of Ferrari...thundering silence for the GTE after enthusiastic applause for the GTB's and BB's. I spent many afternoons with Len over the years when he live...

Glove box lock key
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Pininfarina Listino Parti Ricambio shows 3 keys for 5 locks for the GTE: p. 35, #241 34.160 (trunk latch assembly with lock & key) p. 71, #239 76.501 (ignition lock, driver's door lock, & gas lid lock, all keyed to one key) <-this is the Torino CEAM key that ge...

GTE Glove Box lock
Do any GTE owners out there have keys for the lock on the glove box of your car...or do you even have a locking latch on your glove box? If you do have a key, does the pattern (not the cut "teeth" but the slots on the sides) look like any of your other GTE keys? I ask because in trying to have a loc...

Locks
William, if you have a GTE, the right door locks from the inside only. The handle that opens the door from the inside is pushed down to lock the door. The trunk key usually was keyed the same as the ignition & gas cap cover key, and the door had its own key. If there is a lock on the glove box, it w...

Keys
I, too, am searching for key blanks for my GTE. The GTE Listino Parti Ricambio shows a total of 5 locks controlled with 3 keys, although I'm making a large assumption that this was the way all GTE's rolled out of Pininfarina. And, of course, over the years, locks become damaged & are replaced, and l...

Hazy gauges
I don't know what was on the inside of the glass lenses and on both sides of the plastic inserts of the gauges in my GTE, but it was some sort of hazy/cloudy residue(?). I removed the bezels and then was able to clean up the inserts & lenses by *carefully* using Meguire's Plastic Cleaner #17 & follo...

GTE windshield rubber gasket
I purchased a new rubber gasket from Ted Rutland. His was the best price (at the time, anyway). The fit seems to be good, although we struggled and struggled before figuring out the metal moulding goes in the gasket before installing the whole assembly in the GTE, and not after. Duhhh. At some point...

Monterey
Tom,
Guess I'm about 2 weeks late in reading this, as we RV'd it all weekend at the track & could have gone into town for a chat & a beverage.
Well, you will no doubt be back next year for the Ferrari weekend, so maybe we can join you then.

Oeis (Brodusca)
Hi Kare, Good to hear from you again! From the several replies I have received both on & off this forum, I have concluded you and others are probably correct about "Oeis (Brodusca)" that it was a "best guess" copying of information, and the translation wasn't even close. Having recently viewed other...

Deciphering the "Destination" listing
The destination listing, which apparently is the name of the person/dealer originally placing the order (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't know what the heck any of this means....) for my GTE as listed at www.barchetta.cc/english/ is as follows: 61 - Oeis (Brodusca) I know the "61" is ...

Italian registration research
Has anyone researched the chronology of their vehicle's registration in Europe, either in person or by hiring a local researcher? I recently have been able to trace the registration of my GTE back to Palermo registration number PA 220679 dated July 5, 1968. I need to access archives in Palermo to he...

Philips
Ruedi,
Thanks for the information on the FM frequency differences between Europe & North America. The Philips radio in my GTE must be a European unit as the FM ranges on the dial is 87.5 - 104 MHz.

Windshield moulding
You're right that the moulding is chrome-plated bronze. It is way too heavy to be aluminum. I think I'll just leave well-enough alone. Maybe somewhere along the way I'll find a replacement moulding. :?

Dented windshield moulding
There is a small dent in the aluminum windshield moulding of my GTE. I am wondering if there is a way to repair this (professionally or at home) or should I just live with it. The moulding is awaiting my patience to reinstall it, as I await my ambition to install the replacement windshield (that has...

Radio
The radio in my Series 1 GTE is a Philips, made in Holland. It has 2 push buttons, marked M and U. The frequency ranges on the dial indicate they are AM & FM. I have no idea if this was a dealer-installed (sold & serviced in Padua, Italy) unit, but presumably not judging by the frequency range. My G...
