Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

John thanks for all of your help. I can’t see anything visually that might be wrong-no broken wires etc. An estimate to repair was somewhere between $200 and $400. I’m checking around for a replacement now, but unless theses units were used in a Fiat I’m not hopeful on a better replacement price.

Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

The sending unit is out of the tank and testing with the ohm meter by moving the float arm up and down I’m getting good ohm readings but it is intermittent. It will give readings 4 or 5 times then no readings.

Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

George, there are two terminals on the sending unit. One goes to the gauge dial (brown wire, labeled "T"), the other goes to the gauge warning light (green wire, labeled "W"). Connect your ohmmeter from the "dial" terminal to the chassis of the sending unit. Swinging the float arm from one end to a...

Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

Just filled the tank to see if that might be the problem, but it wasn’t. Not sure what you mean by the coil terminal?

Re: gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

I Ran a wire from the sender screws to ground, but that didn’t do anything. There’s continuity from the screws on the sender to ground. I removed the 2 wires to the sender. There’s 12v from the green wire to ground and some voltage from the other wire to ground. Unless I’m missing something it seems...

gas gauge sending unit 330 GT 2+2

The fuel gauge would work intermittently. If jiggled the connection at the sending unit on the gas tank it would usually start to work again, but now it won't work at all. If I have to remove the sending unit how is this done?

A/C

I would drive my 330 a lot more if it had A/C. Is it possible to add it?

Re: Is my relay bad?

Why would the relay be closing when the battery is connected. The ignition is off and there are no lights on or doors open?

Re: Is my relay bad?

Thanks Bob--I'll go do that next. But should the contacts be making contact when the battery is attached and nothing is or any doors open?

Is my relay bad?

My car won't start. Here's what I've found and done. Cleaned the battery post and ground connection, took the "relay for circuits under ignition switch" off and cleaned all the terminals and filed the points. Reinstall and connect battery. Points close with nothing on and ignition off. Open a door t...
