Doing this for a living, I can tell you nothing is easy and nothing is straight forward. Even a simple oil change can turn into a nightmare. Hang in there take your time.

Re: 365 GT 2+2
Mark, I have had a few transmissions out of Queen moms in the past. -You are correct you need to move the differential backwards which means removing the half shafts. You can try and leave them in place but it will only frustrate you. Support the differential if you can or remove it completely, of c...

Re: Stamping a Label
I'm reluctantly jumping in here, but here goes. Check out the Superior Steel Stamp Company of Cleveland Ohio. This company may have made the original stamps for most of the car companies out there. I've seen a set of stamps for Alfas that are absolutely spot on, fonts, stars and all. If you can make...

50th Birthday of 5629 330GT 2+2
March 6, 1964, this 330GT 2+2 5629 was delivered at Maranello, I hope the picture came through. I did celebrate David Wheeler's car today with a birthday cake on it's 50th birthday. This is also the 50th Anniversary for the 330GT 2+2 which will be celebrated at the May 3rd. Radcliffe Motorcar/Tomyan...

Re: Factory Recall GTC
I am not a lawyer either, however I worked for two automobile manufacturers and have a lot experience with warranty, recalls and the like. As least I used to! Here's what you need to know: -In regards to the 330 GTC shock tower repair, no where does the letter state a recall. Luigi Chinetti Inc. is ...

Re: restoration of seat recliner mechanism
I had 2 2600 Touring Spiders at my shop last year for various repairs and restoration, and I tried to dis-assemble the seat recliners to have outer sections re-chromed. The recliners have high tension flat wound "clock" springs. If I could have found a sacrificial recliner I may have attempted to te...

Re: Valve Cover Removal
Steve, I still use a gasket but use the Toyota FIPG as a sealant added to the gasket.

Re: Valve Cover Removal
Just a suggestion I almost always use Toyota FIPG, Formed in place gasket. As a sealant used as a light coating on both surfaces it seals extremly well and does not "squish" from the gaskets like RTV silicone. FIPG is black and Subaru makes a similar product that's grey. Quick story, I helped a gent...

Re: Brake Lubricant
John, my fault for reading your thread carefully. I still would not mix a silicone based lubricant with DOT 4, just my opinion of course. I've not had a problem with the PBR Rubber lube in past years.

Re: Brake Lubricant
You cannot mix DOT-4 with silicone brake fluid, regardless of what manufacturers and "internet experts" say. Most replacement brake hydraulic seals use EPDM rubber products I believe, which are not compatable with silicone brake fluid as well. John you will probably have to dis-assemble all the brak...

Re: Brake Lubricant
Gentlemen, the product I use that I also gave to Tom is PBR Rubber Grease. As an assembly lube on hydraulic internals the grease performs vey well, will not interfere with brake fluids. You can purchase through Amazon or www.HRPworld.com, or some the racing parts outfits. Good Luck Richard Garre Rad...

Re: Oil Recommendations
Most if not all of the older Ferrari gearboxes use Porsche type synchros. The synchros rely on friction in order to function properly, most, not all, synthetic gear box fluids have additives that may be too "slippery" for synchro operation. I see this once every coupe of months, especially with Alfa...

Re: Anyone familiar with Picoscope?
I've not heard of Picoscope but I've used Gunson's Colortune for almost 40 years. They are still available, most British parts houses carry them along with ebay. They replace the spark plug with with a spark plug looking unit with a small window and the elctrodes so you can see the combustion while ...
