Re: Correct Marchals for 250 GTE/330 America

Does anyone know what the finish was on the brass beveled washers (4) that go between the Marchal fog lamps (inside the grille) bases and the grill surround. I am restoring mine and my thinking is either black or chrome. Mine seem to be black but they are so tarnished its hard to tell. One looks lik...

[quote=" On the later run of the 250 cars 1962-63, I remember seeing the wrapping band type clamps (Copiglia??) for the heater hoses and Cheney for the rest. Is this the case or were they all Cheney by that time? Thanks in advance. john You are correct John. Copiglia for heater and Cheney for others...

Re: 250 GTE 'Rumble' in drivetrain

You might try driving the car with the rear axle lifted off the ground and see if you notice any change. john John is correct. This is the first thing I did to identify my driveshaft problems. I put the car on a lift and ran it as we observed the driveshaft rotation. I had many of the same symptoms...

Re: drive line noise solved

Finally got the drive shaft parts from the machinist. The flange that bolts to the trans was MAP'd (machinable alloy plating) using hard sulfamate nickel. Meaning it was plated with a certain process as to add material and then the part was machined down to fit the drive shaft end socket. I figured ...

Re: drive line noise

C, I can tell that once in this cars life the shaft disconnected from the u joint(at the rear pinion) and the shaft was spinning sideways enough to make a hole in the sheet metal above the rear. So , I don't know if this was enough to damage the flange I pictured or it occurred from normal long term...

Re: drive line noise

Propshaft or rear axle. There is a "centering ball" at the rear of the propshaft to align the rubber donut. These can wear and cause the vibration. You will need machine work to resize it or maybe you can space the propshaft forward to cause the ball to run on unworn metal. Just some thoughts. Dyke...

Re: Daytona Driveability Problem

Dyke,
I was just out for a weekend cars and coffee drive with a freind who has a Daytona. He has the exact problems you describe. I almost passed him going up a hill in my MGA. :)
This car never had this problem before. It's at the shop know and I will report back what they find.

Re: Ansa exhaust paint

Why would you want to paint them orange? If you are trying to be somewhat original for a GTE using Ansa exhaust pipes paint them black, remove the red tape and Ansa logos and add the abarth decals. I believe abarth exhaust insides were black.

Re: Questions: Heater valve, steering box fluid, vapor lock?

In response to #3: I had the same problem and it turned out to be the old yellow fuel lines were swelling internally restricting gas flow under the heat. Ran fine when cold and lost power when hot. Replaced the lines and all is perfect. As dyke mentioned what happens when the aux pump is on?I was ab...
