Re: Rear View Mirror
Hangten- I redid mine but unfotunatly, didn't take pictures. The hardest parts was finding the correct thickness mirror stock and cutting it perfectly. If memory serves- you are correct that 2 peices of glass are used for the day night transistion and there is a spacer and fabric tape at the top tha...

Re: BAAAD News!
Tom, Believe me... I know the feeling! There was a stretch some years ago that every head gasket I installed was a two-fer. The first one always had a problem and worse- I could find nothing to explain why it didn't seat right! I was literally afraid of head gaskets and expected to do them twice! Th...

Hi John, I'm sorry I can't help with the switch over date but saw this the other day... I have no affiliation with it or the seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VINTAGE-FERRARI-250-MARELLI-GENERATOR_W0QQitemZ110338837251QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item110338837251&_...

Re: Coupe Rear Suspension and Phillips Head Screws
I hate to make the water murky- but my 1964 Lusso (I don't kow if it's late or early) has slotted screws in the door panels.

Re: replacement parts classische programm
Just last month, I was quoted 6k to start by the local F dealer. I was most interested in getting build sheets - which they said would not be provided at that (or any) figure. I saw a similar disclaimer in the nice red padded binder they show you as a sample of what you get for your money. I find it...

Re: Common Oil Leaks?
Tom, if the tool is what's shown in your 11/7/08 blog entry... I think I get it. The rectangular bar stock is used as a leverage point under the apex of the spring and the 2 jack screws at either end are used to pull the upward curled ends of the spring down (towards the apex flattening and spreadin...

Re: Common Oil Leaks?
Tom, yes please, dimensions would be great. A picture, sketch or even something that just describes the tools purpose would even be helpful. I've removed my share of leaf springs but it's always been pretty straight forward. BTW- my shackles don't appear cocked at all. Would they be cocked (or cocke...

Re: Common Oil Leaks?
How bad is it to pull the whole diff? Tom was saying something about a special tool/jig? Do you have to extract the axel shafts before seperating the flanges? You know... if I pull the diff, then I midaswell redo the drive shaft, leaf springs, bump stops, lines and cables. Yup, I keep telling myself...

Re: Common Oil Leaks?
Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'm going to leave the diff in place and just replace the pinion seal since I already have it-then I'll just watch things. I'll be watching for your spring removal post Tom, I'd like to see whats involved with removing the diff. I didn't buy the axel outer seal...

Common Oil Leaks?
I've been spending a lot of time under the car and have noticed a few oil leaks (or weaping). With the brakes , fuel tank and shocks redone, but still off the car, the differential is looking oily, and out of place... as are most things next to the restored bits. A problem I'm sure we've all struggl...

Re: Gas tank- Lusso
Update to an old post. The tank is finally done. This has to be the worst job I've done so far due to the fiberglass encapsulation. I took some pics of burning and chiseling it off but I can't seem to find them. Not fun and between the stripping and leak repairs, it's been a long stretch. At least w...
