Re: Re-silvering a late 330 GT mirror

I did it once for this style of mirror. Rightly or wrongly, my method used was brute force- using a flat tool, I pried back the rolled metal until the mirror popped out. I also replaced the night/day toggle, as it had cracked.

Anyone familiar with Picoscope?

I've seen some pretty cool engine diagnostics which can be collected using tools like Picoscope, such as a pressure-plot showing exactly how each cylinder is performing over the entire 4-stroke cycle. Does anyone on this board have any experience with this level of diagnostic tool?

Re: Aerioquip hoses revisited

Thanks Tom. What did you do about the compressor? Did you replace it with a new one designed to withstand the added compression of R134?

Aerioquip hoses revisited

It appears to me that the old textile R-12 Aeroquip 1540 hose for AC units is no longer available. Aeroquip has a replacement textile hose FC558 which is not available in the smaller diameters, from what I can tell. Anyone recently spent time retrofitting their AC with new hoses, but period correct ...

Re: I have siiiiiiiiiiiiined !!!

. . Time to "out" an old friend. Luke was signed up to show his 250 GTE at Hillsborough Concours a few years back. "I'll be there with my GTE!" he proclaimed. Day of the show, there was the faintest mist in the air- just the slightest drizzle. Most people went with their cars, but guess who was a no...

Alfa Parts Supplier list

I found this extensive list of Alfa Parts Suppliers on AlfaBB.com. There were some usual suspects, but also a number of smaller vendors I had not heard of before. I figured I'd post the link to the list here in case someone is looking for some "crossover parts". Over the years I've found a bunch of ...

Re: FCA Judging

One solution is so simple I'm surprised it has not yet been mentioned: never consider getting your car judged, or how many points you might get at any FNA event. Instead, just show up, park, lock your car, relax and stroll the grounds. Buy a $10 hot dog. Drink a $10 beer. Observe the occasional guy ...

Re: Heater Valve Diaphragm

If GTCP doesn't pan out I suppose you could buy a replacement Alfa heater valve and pull out the diaphragm. Last resort.

Re: nead lead for carpeting

I've considered re-dying the German carpet to be the right color. Would probably look pretty decent.

Alternatively, there may have been a Japanese supplier of square weave at one point, as my Toyota 2000GT has a remarkably similar trunk carpet to the Ferraris.

Dry Ice Blasting

Anyone ever tried dry ice blasting to clean fragile parts? I've heard it will yield pretty outstanding results. Machines appear to start at $20,000, so it's a serious tool.

Re: heater vent hose for 330 gtc

I switched to a heavy gauge rubberized hose, to no avail. No matter how carefully I mounted it, the wheel would rub a hole in it within a few hundred miles. I thought of the options: * Create some sort of moulded plastic or fiberglass air channel that can sit in the extreme upper cavity of the wheel...

Re: heater vent hose for 330 gtc

Let me guess - you're running correct-sized 205VR14 tires, and now you've got a 3" hole in your hose. Been there several times myself. Only the Italians would think to stuff an oversized papier mache' vent hose in a wheel well. Good thing there's an affordable option for replacements, or I would hav...

Re: 365 GTC brake calipers

Thanks for the information guys. The calipers are apart and the pistons are not pitted, but the rears have surface rust in the cup. Are these typically just bare metal? I was thinking of thowing them into the ultrasonic cleaner using a descalar to get them clean but I don't want to ruin any surface ...

Under the dash to the right of the center console. Also accessible and easier to see if you remove the glove box.
