The 330 GT S1 and the 1966 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO

Here's an interesting article on the development of the 66 TORONADO. That says a lot about the 300 GT S1, design, phylosophy etc... The key word here is "inspiration". http://www.deansgarage.com/2013/1966-oldsmobile-toronado-development/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=1966-oldsmobile-tor...

Re: 330GT-S1 M/C DONUTS

Hi Yves, I don't know if I can offer you any words of wisdom, but you're not the only one with SI 330 Brake issues. I had a SI car that sat at my shop for nearly a year while I chased down M/C problems. I miraculously found a replacement cylinder to replace one that had a slight distortion in the s...

Re: 330GT-S1 M/C DONUTS// UPDATE

Well here goes . Had the M/C checked by the folks (Upland, Calif.) who sleeved it in S/S back in 2007. The verdict was that it was fine (bore at 1.005) and that it did not need to be re-sleeved and needed a good honing. That said and done, the M/C was reassembled with 1.014 donuts (bought 20 to get ...

Re: Fuel Pickup Tube, 330 S-1

Thank you ALL for your help.

I've ordered Loctite 518 and some new washers are on their way.
In the mean time I have to use up the gas in the tank and the weather is fantastic. Tough duty.

Thank you

Yves

Re: Fuel Pickup Tube, 330 S-1

Thanks for the responses. Right now the tank is 3/4 full so I guess I'd better drive the 330 around before I yank the fuel pickup tube. Have to get some more washers because the current ones don't have any life left in them and I don't want to re-re-re-re-do this job. John, I'll try anything to stop...

Fuel Pickup Tube, 330 S-1

Well here goes, I had to fix a badly cracked fuel pickup tube that connects the fuel tank to the fuel system (TAV.40). In the process I've had to replace the 2 copper washers with new ones. The new ones came from a couple of Ferrari parts purveyors and in both instances, I received copper washers th...

Re: 330GT-S1 M/C DONUTS

UPDATE. Finally removed the M/C and took it apart. The cylinder's Stainless Steel sleeve I.D. is 1.002 inch all the way through and no low spots. I then measured the donuts that were installed 2 years ago and these are the O.Ds for the four donuts; 1.001, 1.001, 1.002 and 1.004, no wonder I have a l...

Re: SI 330 Brake Master Cylinder

Tom, On my S1- 6087 delivered in 06/64, it's 1 inch all the way through. It's difficult to get the pedal to feel rock hard. When it does, it'll stay rock hard with very acceptable pedal travel but next morning the pedal travel has increased and the action feels spongy. However, there are no leaks an...

Re: 330GT-S1 M/C DONUTS

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Tim, Just like you, I"ve had cars which have gone the 30+ years on the M/C without ever leaking. That's why I was wondering if the donuts are now made from some cheap junk material and folks are having issues! Tom, I've made calls to the usual suspects regar...

330GT-S1 M/C DONUTS

I had my M/C resleeved in SS by a reputable outfit here in SoCal almost 2 years ago and the M/C is now leaking. The culprit is the donut at the push-rod opening. Of course, it could be that the opening is flared but that I'll check when I pull out the M/C. The donuts were sourced from one of the usu...

Re: brake issue

Hi Guys, All these problems are very famiiar to me, and I've had some kind of issue similar to what you're all describing one way or another. Stainless steel sleeves are the way to go, but Brass is easier to machine so a lot of rebuilders use the softer material. I've also been trying to learn how ...

Re: brake issue

Everybody here is providing good suggestions to help this gentleman sort out his brake problems. However, one item should be addressed. The cylinder found on some cars mounted on the front of the chassis in NOT an "equalizer". It is a HYDRAULIC BOOSTER. it multiplies brake pressure to get more pres...

Re: brake issue

The series 1 does have the pesky equalizer that seems to cause a lot of braking issues. Cory[/quote] I believe you're talking about the 250 GTE. My 330 GT (assembled in June 1964) has a T connector on the front cross member and an identical one on the rear axle. When I redid my brakes, I removed bot...

Re: Weber Carb Linkage Retainer Clips

I have in my notes that LANCIA up to the early 70s had these clips and the part number is 10124776. Hope this is the correct P/N.
I don't have anything else on this clip.
Hope that helps.
