Terry: It was my pleasure to help. It was a chance to repay all those who helped me over the years.

Re: Marelli S85 distributor question…
Terry: Easily fixed. Remove the distributor, turn it upside down. Look at the drive with the two square pins. You will see a 10 mm nut at each end that holds the two drive pieces together. Note the two pieces can slide in relation to one another by loosing the nuts. This is where you move things to ...

Re: Gasoline and fuel filter housings 2 questions
Steve: I would first try without the octane booster and see what happens. You may be surprised.

Re: Gasoline and fuel filter housings 2 questions
Steve: The 330 engines are low compression ratio motors, so I would give the 87 non-ethanol a try. Just keep an ear out for any "knocking" under load. Royal Purple also makes a very good octane booster (I use it on the 427 Corvette). Keep searching for 90-91 non-ethanol (we have it here).

Re: Undercoating
Melchior, Tom: After I researched undercoating many years ago, I came to the conclusion, it was applied by the following method: 1. A man actually laid on his back under the car and shot the undercoating straight up toward the body/chassis. This is why the sides of the frame and other areas are not ...

Re: Plug wire installation
Lube the wires with silicone spray, insert them through the small end with the grommet first and easily push them to the large open end. Should be no problem at all. I have done dozens and dozens of engines that way.

Re: Weber DCZ6 Flat Spot
Terry: Puzzling, almost every time larger Idles cure the problem. Hard to diagnose a drivability problem over a computer. Are the carbs correctly synchronized? Is the linkage set up correctly? Good spark plugs? Good plug wires? Do the pump jets squirt fuel quickly as soon and the throttle is opened?...

Re: Weber DCZ6 Flat Spot
Terry: That is what I expected. Call Pierce Manifolds and get a set of 65 Idles. I end up running 65's in all the DCZ's today.

Re: Weber DCZ6 Flat Spot
Terry: Take out the Idle Jets and make sure they are open. Tell me what size they are. Today's fuel causes engines to run about 14% leaner than the fuels of the 1960s. You probably need to go up one size in Idle Jet. The Idle Jets effect the mixture quite a way up the rev range under partial loads.

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Steve; Most "starting fluids" are not good for engines due to their tendency to provide "uncontrolled combustion". Also, you may get the engine running, but the accelerator pumps are still not going to work and the car will "fall on its face" when you try to accelerate.

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Tom: alcohol is a wonderful solvent. It will flush all the old dried varnish from fuel systems and leave it wherever it ( the ethanol) dries out (needle and seats) when the car sets for awhile. I used to have this ALL the time, but, amazingly, it seems Marvel Oil and non-ethanol fuels have caused th...

Re: Weber DCZ6 accelerator pumps
Terry: The recommended amount on the container, 4 oz/10 gal gas. The big benefit is to make the valves in both the mechanical and electric fuel pumps seal better and avoid vapor lock at high ambient temps. It also does actually help with valve stem/guide lubrication. It was originally developed in t...
