Re: Window Cranks

It has been a long time since I did mine, but I remember there is a woodruff key (small half circle piece of metal) that has to be removed. I believe that you push in on the escutcheon, which will expose the key. Once you pull this out, it all comes apart. If someone else remembers this differently,...

Re: Replace/Fix GTE Fan Clutch

Ok, Zac took apart two other clutch's and you guys are correct, there is nothing between the ceramic and metal. So, we will clean it up and use it as is! Thanks for everybody's help.

Re: Replace/Fix GTE Fan Clutch

So there is no buffer between the ceramic on one side and and the metal on the other? It sounds noisy.

Re: Replace/Fix GTE Fan Clutch

Ok, here is what I have. The white part is ceramic which covers the magnet. I don't know if the cracks are ok or not. Note that some are straight like they were planned and others look like breaks. The other half appears to be missing its insert. I seem to recall that this one may have had asbestos ...

Re: Replace/Fix GTE Fan Clutch

Zac is sending me some photos and I will put them up. I did a search of the Corvette Forum and a couple of guys recommended Kirk Connell in Florida who sounds like the guy you are thinking of. I will be sending him the photos as well and will let you guys know what happens.

Replace/Fix GTE Fan Clutch

Anybody have a source for fixing or replacing the fan clutch on the GTE? 4247 GT's engine is going back together and this issue needs to be addressed. A long time ago, someone on this site suggested a Peugeot 505 clutch, but I don't recall anyone actually trying it...

Re: 1965 330 GT 2+2 Series 1 iterim car radio

As the antenna's were installed by the dealers, there is no pattern as to their location (in the GTE Register, I track this as it is a great aid in identifying cars from photos). I have seen antennas installed on each of the the four corners as well as the top of the windshield, top of the rear wind...

Re: What/who is Bertolli ?

I had a chance to talk to Marcel Massini and he said that 2831 GT was originally sold through Chinetti Motors in New York. Interestingly enough, of the three cars that were said to go to Bertolli, none did and he had no records of anyone named Bertolli getting a car. Lots of mysteries in this game...

Re: What/who is Bertolli ?

This information was copied from the Ferrari Files by Hil Raab a long time ago. I believe that the names he found were where the cars were intended to go, but they did not always get there. I have in the Register three cars destined for Bertolli and information that one did indeed first sell in Rome...

Re: GTE Headliners

I understand that a customer could get any modification that they were willing to pay for, but I have not seen anything but white as Tom Y describes on a GTE.

Re: Tom's Party at Quail

I am sorry to have missed the party this year! I look forward to catching up with all of you each August, but this year did not work out. Guess I will have to have a chat with the Nieces and Nephews about the evils of getting married during Monterey week... If they cooperate, I will definitely be th...

Re: 250 GTE Carpet Kits

I do not have the plastic covers listed on my database, so I cannot tell you how many cars have them. I can say, however that my Series III, 4247 GT has the aluminum panel, not plastic. The photo below is from a late 1961 magazine from Finland called Tekniikan Maalima that shows a GTE with what appe...

Re: How to search for phrase?

Exactly as you did in your post; within quotes. Search for water temperature and you will get any post that includes the words water & temperature somewhere. Search for "water temperature" and you will only get the two words when they are together.

I will have to go back and look, but I am pretty sure there is a white plastic cover, similar material to the dome light.

I agree with Tom Y. Black back and light on the bottom is correct.
