On my Series II it's bolted to the bodywork under the front bumper (where the car would scrape if you bottomed out). I can try to take a picture but it's really stuffed in there. Internally it's just forward of the base of the radiator.

Re: Modern Azzuro 19278
Thank you for the helpful links. I think I'll try contacting the 500 Superfast owner to see what was used, although the color looks a bit darker in the photos than what I expected. I do have a good friend in town who is a factory trained Ferrari mechanic in addition to having "cut his teeth" as a me...

Modern Azzuro 19278
I know that this question is never easily answered, but my 330 is nearly ready for painting and I'm curious if anyone has found a modern equivalent of Azzurro 19278 that they are happy with. The shop suggested red, so I think almost anything would be an improvement over that!

Re: No Oil Pressure
John: yes the gauge shows acceptable oil pressure now. I added two quarts and part of a third before it got to the "min" mark on the dipstick. I drove it a bit afterwards to see how the pressure was doing and to try to provoke any possible leaks. It was dark when I got back, so I still need to see w...

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Steve: Thank you for the recommendation on Then and Now for rebuilding the mechanical pump. I took your word and sent the pump to them via UPS for rebuilding. Being on the West coast, it took 5 business days to reach them, but astoundingly I received a call exactly 5 business days later that the pum...

Re: No Oil Pressure
For the future reference of others, I'll share my shameful discovery: the oil level was low. The oil had been changed a few hundred km ago when the car was in the shop, so I'm not sure if they didn't fill it completely or if I'm burning a lot of oil. Now I know to check before every drive! In the sh...

Re: No Oil Pressure
I should mention that the engine seems to be running fine otherwise: no unusual noises, excessive heat, smoke, loss of power, etc.

No Oil Pressure
This week I finally got my car put back together (after rebuilding the mechanical fuel pump and pressure regulator) and it's running perfectly. However, I forgot that during the last drive before my mechanical fuel pump gave out, the oil pressure gauge was stuck at 0. I'll certainly check the oil fo...

Re: It was Colombus Day, what else are you going to do?
Now that looks like fun! If you two get carried away and make it all the way to California, let me know. I'm caught in one of those rare moments where everything on my car is working as it should be. (I think I just heard my head gasket blow as I typed that last sentence!)

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Haha fair enough. Knowing the huge likelihood of eventual failure of nearly every part on these cars, I should have phrased my question differently. Is there anything to beware of so that this problem doesn't happen again immediately after installing the rebuilt mechanical pump? Would it be worth pu...

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Steve, thanks for the recommendation on then-n-now. I've decided to try them out for both the kit and the rebuild (which was a reasonable $85!). I'd also like to thank Kerry for the tip on his page regarding fuel pump removal that doesn't involve removing the engine. Swiveling the bottom plate of th...

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Thank you John. I was reading about the great potential for an engine fire if gas gets into the oil. I did take a sniff of the dipstick and didn't detect gas, but will get a few samples along the way before firing up the car.

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
I picked up some new fuel hose on the way home from work today and hooked up the gauge between the mechanical pump and the pressure regulator. It didn't register any pressure because all of the fuel was coming out of the mechanical pump. It was difficult to tell exactly where it was leaking, but it'...

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Kerry: The modern fuel pump was fit in place of the short soft hose between the original electric pump and the hard line running to the front of the car. I really have no idea, but I thought that this line ran to the mechanical pump and not the fuel rail. While I did select a modern pump with the re...

Re: Leaky mechanical fuel pump
Thank you all for the suggestions. The new electric pump is installed inline with the old, although the power to the old pump is disconnected so that fuel is only flowing through it. I did it this way to avoid cutting the hard lines and retain the ability to go back to stock. I would imagine that th...
