Vintage Concours Categories
I did not go to Monterey, but just finished looking at a spreadsheet of the judging results for the Concorso Italiano. I found the classifications a little disturbing, but thought I would bounce my observations off this esteemed group before writing the Cavallino people and/or FCA. The CI classifica...

So is Francois troubled by what I consider to be a low o.p. reading at warm idle? On the oil temp issue, it takes a lot of driving on a warm day for my oil temp to move off the bottom peg - in winter it often never gets off 0 which is why I'm really careful w/ the revs. I've read the stories of expl...

OK - here is a variation question. When fully warm, I have great oil pressure at speed. However, when sitting still (and fully warm), the o.p. drops very, very low. Just a little blip on the accelerator sends it quickly right back up but over the next 5 seconds it drops back down to just above 0. Si...

Congratulations, Tom!!!!! she understands the "madness," doesn't she??? I'll never forget my wife's (then girlfriend) thunderous understatement the first time she perused my (and my father's) cars, videos, library, database, research binders, etc. "Wow. You guys are kind of into this Ferrari thing!"

J. Vardanian - media star
Our own John Vardanian and his Lusso are featured in the new Forza (no. 45, May 2003, p.50). I'll presume, John, that the interview and pics occurred before you picked up the PF Coupe?
Great article, beautiful car!!

This is s/n 1643 currently for sale in FML for $55,000. Lots of $$ for a project car . . . for $4,000 more you can have a completely restored one - see www.bentleysiliconvalley.com (I have no affiliation, blah, blah, blah - just a little comparison shopping).

brake pads
Time for new brake pads on the Queen. Are the pads for a 365GT2+2 Ferrari-specific, or can I get them from a non-Ferrari supply house w/out paying the upcharge for the Ferrari mystique? FYI - I replaced the CV joints at the rear drive shafts last year w/out paying Ferrari prices - I think they were ...

I wish I had a clue on the # of Queen Mothers still around since I have one (the 26th of 801). On one hand, the wheelbase is too long for GTO and TR fakes so the chassis isn't really an attractive target (it also has independent rear susp. so the frame is engineered a little differently than the old...

I dug up some production numbers last night and put them together w/ Kerry's and Kurt's estimates for surviving 330 2+2s and PF Coupes. (The name of the person keeping the 250GTE register escapes me - could he hazard a guess?) 250 PF Coupes - 353 made - 175 to 200 surviving as PF Coupes? 250GTE - 95...

I agree with Yale's observation. It raises several points that I have made in a scattered way over time both on this site and Ferrarichat. Anyone who participates on this site knows that restoring a 2+2 makes no economic sense. Even if you do the work yourself and ascribe $0 for your labor, you migh...
