Re: Brass related parts - how to restore them

For an original look, don't polish the brass up too brightly. You can add a natural patina to a previously polished part by boiling it for a few minutes in water with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate).

Re: 330 GTS Misbehaving Voltage Regulator?

Worst case, have one machined from a piece of Delrin. That's where mine came from.

Re: CLAMPS

One easy way to get nice black clamps is to order a bag of (white) zinc ones from Mcmaster-Carr, then use a black conversion solution on them. Since the zinc plating is of good quality, the black conversion coat also holds up well underhood, at least several years on my car.

Re: Battery

Also worthy of note, every one of those old engine bay photos showed rounded battery cable ends (terminal clamps), like the ones Mike Dunn reproduces at madenterprise. I never managed to get a definitive square-vs-round consensus while I owned my 330GTS. I wound up changing the ground cable to the r...

I think that show alone convinced me I will need another V12.

Re: Crackle Experience

Heat lamps work well too if you don't want paint fumes in your oven. It doesn't take a lot of heat to get a good wrinkle. Experiment on some metal scraps to get the wrinkle you want. Worst case, paint stripper takes it off easily so you can try again.

Ribot was a racehorse, many had a second life as a vintage Ferrari color:

After a decade of ownership, I recently sold it through Fantasy Junction. It went very quickly. The new owner has many other blue-chip Ferraris (no pun intended).

Those 250 bodies have to go somewhere when the frames are slipped away for a "recreation".

Without the hood scoop, and ignoring the loss of another vintage Ferrari, I'd say a slammed GTE looks pretty cool.

My old 330GTS managed a solid 12mpg on its way down to Monterey and back a few years ago. Had a great time watching the sun rise over the mountains, while sending a tankful of hydrocarbons on to their greater reward.

The tank filled OK though without hiccups or splashes.

Let me know if you can hear the radio at all when the car is running. I asked my resto shop about it while the car was being rebuilt, and they all just laughed. They were right.

John,

Could your heads have warped and then been milled flat in the past? It would tale a lot of milling but is a possible explanation.

You can always pull the wheels off the car and ask you wife to help you. It worked for me, exactly once anyway.

I'm not sure but I think a toothbrush will dull a highly polished Borrani. Or at least a toothbrush loaded with wheel dust will.

Hate to get my wheels wet too, don't want to invite rust.
