Do the old print magazines have any value?

Hi all: I'm having to downsize significantly and wondering if the old print magazines have any value. I have the complete series of both Cavallino and also of Forza . I know there used to be folks selling complete collections, but thinking now the publishers have them available digitally? Maybe that...

Re: Who is going to Cavallino?

Hi Tom: The car looked great and I was glad to contribute in some small way. Thanks very much for the compliment, but you're being far too generous. The credit really goes to Zac, who can do more by himself than I would have believed possible, in the most marginal of conditions, and all the while, w...

Re: Who is going to Cavallino?

Hey, Tom: you might want to reconsider not having the car judged. I think it's pretty good. Hope you have a great time!

Re: Front Suspension Details reguested

For originality, I believe all the fasteners you've mentioned, at least on the 250s, should be castellated nuts. And if we're getting super-nerdy, one leg of the split pin is bent down, and the other up over the top of the stud and wedged into a castellation on the nut.

Re: seals/gaskets for around the wiper wheelboxes

Leave it to my buddy Andrew to bring me back to reality on something I thought was done on my SII Cab. It was enough of a nightmare trying to find replacement wheelboxes, since the little rubber seals underneath the driven "cap" were worn out on my originals. I thought is was a nice coincidence that...

Re: 250GTE differential Bearings

Holy cow - an Andrew Brent sighting!

I think I got mine from either Rutland's or GT Car Parts. They don't have them?

Re: Tom's Party at Quail

Since I'm complaining about other Monterey observations in a separate post, I'll add here that in the past we've always been free to wander about The Quail's display field the evening of Tom's party. Of the cars present, maybe a third would be uncovered. This year, I was turned away by the phalanx o...

Ferrari 70th Anniversary display at Pebble Beach '17

I posted this over on FerrariChat, but since I know many of you don't go over there at all (rarely for me), I thought I'd repeat myself here. I think Ferrari needs to be taken to task for putting Classiche Certification ahead of representing the history of the marque at their 70th Anniversary commem...

Re: How to do the black oxide deal (long)

Since Steve mentioned me as a sort of catalyst in his decision to try the Caswell kit in his post above, I feel as though I ought to add a couple of notes on my experience as it might pertain to the rest of you. Black oxide finishing is as you probably know, a sort of controlled rusting of the steel...

Re: Vent window glass seal

I’m bumping this thread just to show everyone what a mean streak our friend Tom can have. I’m in the process of putting the doors on my Cab back together, and faced the same problem as mentioned earlier: how to seat/seal the vent window glass in the frames. My first attempt was with some thin neopre...

Re: Black Oxide kits

Black oxide is one of the most problematic and least durable finishes on these cars. As you probably know, it's essentially accelerated oxidation, with an oil to preserve the finish, at least in theory. I've tried commercial shops with varying degrees of success. The current one here in SoCal did th...

Re: FCA Meet in Ohio

Thanks for the link, Tom. Looks like it was a great turnout. There appears to have been way more Enzo-era cars than the disappointing Monterey turnout last year. Thank goodness for the GTE reunion.

Re: Undercoating

Hey, John: Didn't we talk about this here a while back? If not, I've been pretty happy with the Wurth SKS. But be aware that they sell a gun specifically for applying it. It has a big canister on it, and you take the top off a plastic bottle of the stuff, drop it in the canister and screw on the top...

Anybody seen or used the repro stainless bumpers?

Hi all:

The center rear bumper section on the Cab's bumpers seems to be too thin for my chromer to attempt work on it.

Has anyone tried the reproduction stainless bumpers being produced in Vietnam apparently by a Brit? they're sold in the US by "Mr. Fiat".
