Re: Hard to start Daytona

Steve,

I do not know about the various styles on the these, but the orange floppy ones I get from GT Parts in Phoenix are resistant to todays fuels. When removing the old original factory ones I have noted they are hard as a rock and not pumping fuel as they should.

Re: Hard to start Daytona

You may be on to something by looking if the accelerator pump squirt in each choke. The pump diapharms go bad from the rotten fuel. They are easily changed and make a big difference when replace with the newer more resistant ones.

Re: Ceramic fuses

VW still used them until recently, most VW dealers and shops that service VW or build sand rails have stocks of these ceramic style fuses.

Do not forget to add a small drop of oil now and then to keep the bearings happy.

Re: Exhaust popping 330GT

Exhaust leaks are a common source, ignition may be another. Use your timing light and check the advance curve on the distributors at idle and 42AM on all cylinders, 1-6, 7-12. there may be something not right with the points or advance weights. If you may recall, cars at the drag strip using all the...

Re: Cleaning Spoked Wheels - Lend me your Pro Tips!

I have used "NEVER DULL" for the alloy portion of the wheels with great results, and the grandkids with little fingers for the spokes! Be careful with brushes so that they do not leave marks in the soft alloy part of the wheel.

Re: Vapor Lock 330GT

As usual Dyke brings these tips to us that always make sense and work well. Another application for MMO, is to help old engines that have been stored or not used for many years; a little squirt into each cyl. can help keep sticking rings and rust from freezing up engines. Makes a lot of sense that i...

Re: Ferrari 250 Gte Accelerator kick plate

Tom S. should have some kicking around, probably in very used condition that could be used as a pattern. Any good body shop could then easily reproduce them for you.

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

Dyke, all of my mags had those serrated "lock" washers and I had a very hard time removing the centers because of the deformed bolt ends. Sent them to Skippy who painted them nice using the paint color you recommended. I noticed when cleaning up the threads the bolts and nuts were at least grade 10 ...

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

Dyke, you can see the mark in the mag where the lock washers dug in, and yes they peened the ends at the factory, but it seems these were removed at some time and not installed very well.

Re: Driving the wheels off, really!

I noticed no lock washers in the photo, missing or not shown? A good use of Locktite is also a is also advisable if the wheels were ever taken apart to paint.

Re: Electrical Board - Ignition problems

The bare copper not brass items you questioned are jumpers or interconnect wires to connect the terminals to each side of the block. Be sure to clean these as well as the wires and the insides of the blocks terminals. Also do this for the other block on the board.
