Re: water pump leakage
Thanks for the very useful tips, everyone. My car too is peeing a bit and I'd like it garage-broken. To clarify, it appears that with the engine still in the car (330 engine in my case) I can remove the water pump housing, impeller, and spring assembly without disturbing the water pump shaft, in ord...

Re: Oil Recommendations
Hi Tom, You probably don't recall, but my 330 America has been fitted with a 5-speed, rather than the 4-speed with overdrive (the one non-original thing about it), which I actually like quite a lot. As for the transmission oil, the change to the MTL 75/90 coincided with slight trouble with a synchro...

Re: Oil Recommendations
I use Castrol 20W50 for the engine; Redline 75W90ns for the differential; Redline MTL 75/90 for the transmission (5 spd). I'm considering moving to a thicker diff fluid (very slight leak, even after replacing the pinion seal) and perhaps different transmission oil, which I'm not happy with. Specific...

tow points?
Yesterday, after a nice drive, I shut my car off for a short while a small distance from my house, but she wouldn't fire up to go again. At first, there was clicking, one or two blips, but then nothing. I checked the usual suspects and could find nothing dramatic going on. I retrieved more serious t...

The one remaining post on my crossed-flags trunk emblem recently broke off. Fortunately, the emblem is in fine shape (and it didn't happen while driving!), but now needs new bolts/posts attached to its back side. I've spoken to a few jewelers, and they don't want to touch it -- they fear that the he...

For the sake of closure here, and for future information-seekers: Having now done so, I can say that it is indeed possible to completely replace front and rear motor mounts and associated pieces without removing the engine, though I would rate it extremely high on the PITA scale. Perhaps it was more...

Seeking a transmission with overdrive unit
I'm seeking a late 250 GTE 4 speed transmission with overdrive in known-to-be-good working order. My 330 America currently has a 5-speed in it (from a 330 GT 2+2) which, although quite nice, is of course not original. Indeed, it appears to be the only nonoriginal thing about the car. Fortunately, I'...

motor and transmission mounts
I'm about to install motor mounts on my car (4 in my case). I'm assuming that this can be done with the engine in -- can I disconnect the exhaust, hoses, etc. and jack the engine up sufficiently far to reach things? Anyone done it this way? I'll also be replacing the transmission mount. Any time-sav...
