Re-chroming Borrani knock-offs

I have some Borrani octagon knock-offs that due to use have some nicks around the edges that I would like to have re-chromed. I am told you have to be careful in having them done as you can lose detail having them replated. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how this problem is addressed and whe...

Hi Tom,

I was quoted $800 at T Rutlands and I know and love those guys.

I pulled the fan and thought I would try to get it repaired after that.

Let me know if you can do any better.

I'm thinking for a couple of hundred I can perhaps, maybe, possibly be back in business.

Armature Rewinding for 12V Fan Motor

Hello gentlemen it has been quite a while since I have posted here but I thought this group might be able to help: Can anyone recommend a shop to rewind an armature for a fan motor. The radiator fan motor for my Daytona quit and the local starter shop has traced it to the armature. NOS is quite expe...

Thanks Zac.

Good comments. We have been through the suspension and have pulled the shocks and inspected the bushings. All appear to be Ok and moving freely.

The others, especially the CV joint are very suspect.

Daytona Shudder (not limited slip chatter)

We are having a problem with a Daytona that is being sorted in the Atlanta area. It is somewhere in the rear transaxel area. There is a shudder that occurs randomly when going around turns. I have posted this question on the DaytonaRegistry and a couple of the other sites but thought that since ther...

Thanks Matt that does help although my unit is a bit older. I was able to talk to the people at Becker NA. Very helpful. Turns out the single wire running from the radio that I thought was the antenna acutating wire is actually where the power goes to. Then you ground the negative to the chassis. Th...

I'm thinking it might be the automatic antenna lead also. I did bench test it. When I powered up the amp/radio by grounding the unit to the negative wire and plugging in the positive wire I can get it to function. However I have to ground out out this additional wire it turns on a green light. I don...

Becker Mexico circa 1970's radio wiring

I just purchased a period correct Becker Mexico for my 1973 Daytona. It has the head/radio unit and amplifier. I can see that you plug the left and right speaker wires into the indicated spots on the amplifier. The amplifier has two spots to plug in the positive wiring. I assume it does not make a d...

Thanks for the tips. I noticed in the Eastwood advertisements they were using an angle drill at max 1,500 RPM. I think I will give it a try and report.

I believe in going slow and doing thing a number of times. just to be safe.

Thanks for your comments.

Removing Minor Windshield Scratches

I have some minor front windshield scratches on my Daytona. They are fairly light and do not catch your finger nail when you drag across the scratches. They must have been done from the wiper blade with no water or the metal part catching the windshield. I have read that they can be polished out. I ...

I believe oxygenated reformulated fuels are mandated in NY, NJ and CT during the summer. If memory serves, NY and CT have banned the oxygenate MTBE, so the oxygenate of choice is ethanol. Not sure what oxygenate is being used in NJ. The fuels should be just fine. If anything they lack a little lubri...

Well I found a source: C&S Auto Electric in Atlanta, GA 770/941-0003 Ask for Terry Smith (nice guy) They know them as Pantera, Lucas cooling fan motors. Take a look at the web page. It is by a guy who bought my Pantera about 5 years ago. It is the same fan motor used on the Pantera. They also stock ...

Lucas Fan Motor Brush Replacement

Has anyone had experience sourcing the brushes for Lucas fan motors? One went out on my Boxer over the weekend. I have found a couple different sets around town that could be modified/filed but thought that someone on Tom's board might have gone through this before and found a better answer. Any hel...
