Re: Vent window glass seal

A google search for glass setting tape brought up ebay entries for various thicknesses of rubber tape like in your second photo. The first that popped up was by a company called vintique inc. I suspect it's the same as the stuff I got in 2007 by visiting an automotive glass shop and talking to the o...

Re: 250 GTE Tire recommendations

Zac,
Maybe I missed something, but the M-B guys recommend some of these, and several of theirs come in 195R15 with different aspect ratios.

Re: Mark's 365

Damn, Mark! I too am glad you didn't get the car judged at the DC Nationals in 2006 (two years before I met you in Toronto). You and I at the time had about the same level of knowledge about Queens - NIL. In the photo above, you had the air cleaner lid on backwards. But, at least you learned faster ...

Re: 365 GT 2+2 Headliner cleaning/ touch up question

There is a company called ColorPlus ( www.colorplus.com ) who makes a product for restoring vinyl headliners. On their home page, search the word "vinyl". It is (or was) available as a brush on paint/dye/color. They do custom colors as well. They even have a testimonial about a headliner restoration...

Re: 365GT 2+2 Center Vent Knob

The original post was in response to one of Tom's recent daily restorations log entries. He was looking to make one but needed to know what it looked like. He may have one by now. Try to contact Tom Yang to get the latest news about this knob. My car is gone so I can't size the knob.

365GT 2+2 Center Vent Knob

I doubt if many people take photos of that knob, but here's a long shot that's been blown up quite a lot. It's basically an upside down bell shape. I have no record of the size but you can guess pretty close. To get closer, someone will have to remove it and measure it. Sorry it's not better. Tom Ki...

Correction: I sold it to Steve Markowski of RPMVT, Peter's son, not to Peter Markowski.

Re: 365 Leaks

Hello, Cornelius, I have always been one of your fans, so I'll clear up any confusion. After trailering the car from Quebec City to New York and Maryland in January of 2010 to meet Tom Yang and Mark Dempsey, we drove our three cars to Cavallino Classic XIX in Palm Beach, Florida. After driving and t...

365 Leaks

I'm so ashamed! I bought my 365GT 2+2 in 1985, completely stripped the car for a bare metal restoration between 2005 and 2008, then continued to tweak on it until finally winning a Platinum at Cavallino in 2010. Tom just wrote in the diary of 2/18/14, in an off the cuff, sort of blasé manner, "After...

Re: 330GT 2+2 Grille

It seems to me that eMachineShop (http://www.emachineshop.com) might be a great application and fabricator for these grills, especially in quanties, since they are mostly flat pieces of aluminum sheet with precision profiles. I`ve never had anything made by them but I`ve used their software to desig...

Re: broken gear reduction starter on 330GTC

I can`t believe they are still using the photo of my starter (1969 365 GT 2+2) that they used to create the design for the Colombo V12s. My car is long gone, but the memories are still sweet. By the way, my old starter is the one called "Old, bulky, heavy and slow", all of which was (an is) true. Ea...

Has anyone heard from Mark Dempsey? He's a little inland but his wife Lynn has a shop in one of the Maryland coastal villages.

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi A.D. Here`s a color version, matching the wire colors in the car (at least on my car). I have made corrections over the years as I discovered them. The version I use now is pretty heavily modified to accommodate the changes I made to improve the fire safety of my car after melting about 100 feet ...

Re: Tool Bag Handle

Bryan, I didn`t "memorize" the dimensions. I measured the strip of metal from the second bag I made but whose handle I did not attach. I didn't just fall of the turnip truck. Any time I make something, there's a good chance I'll screw it up and have to make another, so I always plan to make two of e...

Re: Tool Bag Handle

Oh hell! Since everybody else has an opinion, I`ll weigh in too. When I reproduced my bag, I used a piece of stainless steel inside new leather of the correct thickness for the handle. My stainless strip was 0.055 inches thick, 0.5 inches wide, and 6.7 inches long. I had it sewed into the two pieces...
