Re: New member with 365 gt 2+2

and in terms of the amber/ red order of the lights, wouldn't surprise me if different delivery continents had different regulations.. the DOT in USA in that era had many requirements to federalize cars ( side marker lights, etc). either that or someone just reversed a plastic lens during reassembly....

Re: New member with 365 gt 2+2

rod, in the past I think it was just easier to rechrome them, and leave the entire piece as chrome, and in fact, when My friends 365 was restored in South Africa thats what they did. but I am pretty sure the correct is this bead blasted look. I own a 330 GT so I am not 100% sure but when I helped my...

Re: New member with 365 gt 2+2

my friend had MPI i think do the "bead blasted look"[attachment=0]Image 3.jpgchroming strips ( which are painted black on yours)--- its a subtle effect and difficult to do correctly, and he had one vendor do a poor job initially.

Re: radiator repair; what else do I attend to?

today got it all back together..... no leaks, running great. did oil and filter too, new hoses, clamps, flushed coolant twice. Several tricks with the cheney clamps.. they seal fine. 1) grease the screw and turn several times before installing to get them all lubricated. If you dont, you think you h...

Re: radiator repair; what else do I attend to?

yes-- I let my radiator guys do a deep clean and resolder that fill piece.--- probably the cheapest thing I have ever done... Took Tom's advice and got a new diverter piece. Waiting on some hoses. decided not to take any chances with it because while it didn't have any holes, it was a bit nasty.. Bi...

Re: radiator repair; what else do I attend to?

thanks tom--- I brazed today after cleaning the pipe and it came out good.. only 3 small micro perforations to deal with. I like the coating idea for my car. My radiator is OK but have great radiator people here so will get it cleaned and pressure tested after repairing the fill funnel. It doesn't n...

radiator repair; what else do I attend to?

The water inlet of my radiator developed a small pinhole leak where it is braised to the header. I pulled it for repair. found a metal tag from mansion radiator in phoenix 30 years ago when radiator last serviced. I pulled the hoses from pump to lower outlet and need to source these, but see pic-- t...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Questions

i think i used a rebuild kit from "Then and Now automotive", for Fispa 150 - same pump as flaminia, etc, but the check valves were definitely different than what was in there. for what its worth, I attached rebuild instructions from the old Ferrari of Atlanta. LASTLY, Tom I am assuming the...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Questions

Tom, Dyke, John and menlodon, I suspect you are all correct- I always felt my old checkvalves, and the diaphragm were OK and saved them. In fact nothing seemed that bad with the old pump except a slight gasket leak and the fact it didnt work, but the lever was a bit sloppy because the pin was a bit ...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Questions

Tom- definitely fuel starvation--- i can't get the pump to deliver enough fuel to keep the glass bowl filled. can actually watch the fuel disappear from bowl as you rev the engine. ( supply<demand) I R&R the pump so many times i got sick of it and kept the electric. Maybe Ill try again and if no...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Questions

John, 2mm sounds about right... but I dont have it apart right now. why not hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see whats being delivered to your regulator from the pump.... that way you can objectively measure any changes you make? wont you decrease the pumping volume if you add paper gaskets and thi...

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump Repair Questions

using calipers and some math, I played around with the geometry before I started shaving the spacer. So as to avoid making it too thin and damaging the pump. I actually shot video and turned engine over as I measured the in and out movement of the push rod. and then looked at pump lever to flange di...
