I would venture to guess that the inner door panels are yet to be painted with a rust preventative paint. A restoration of this caliber would command such a process. Rudy van Daalen Wetters 1963 GTE s/n 4001 1966 330 GT s/n 8705 You are probably right. I though can think of no better rust preventat...

Why not paint fully the inside of the doors?, ie the inside of the door skins and the rest. Surely this would help against future rust? I know nobody will see it but the reason panels rust from the inside out is because the paint protection on the inside is not as good as the outside. Thus in a rest...

Another 1750GTV restoration...we could take over this forum and bore everyone with 105 Alfa talk...my car's only been in the paint shop for 18 months (long story) but I'm promised to have the painted rolling shell out by the end of January, just when it's nice and hot here downunder...must ge...

I have to agree that this is a great way to loose friends ... unfortunately. We have all enjoyed watching Tom's Ferrari being restored, but be honest, we have all had moments where we have said to ourselves 'Hmmm, I wouldn't have done that, or I would prefer if this, etc.' This ofcourse is easily re...

I think I could pull, rebuild and refit a SB Ford in 8 hours. Excluding machining time. I'm not bragging, they're just that straightforward. Agree, though I have never done one ... but done other simple Ford engines. The problem is that to do a 'production' v8 properly you need to remachine just ab...

Tom, you ARE going to paint that sucker Ford Blue, right? For '65 blocks, they were painted black with gold valve covers. I'm going with the black block, but will be using the finned Cobra valve covers. Tom P.S. It's going to take me a little longer than 8 hours to do mine! Surely you would be bett...

1.330 AUD to 1 US dollar $206,658.00 U.S. that's a big jump for a GTE from what I have seen Zac RHD and bloody rare over here ... thus naturally the price is higher. If you buy one overseas and you then have to ship it over, pay tax, etc. and if LHD convert it if you want to feel comfortable drivin...

Andrew, Good post. I just wanted to balance some of Tom's comments out that's all. Heck I'm the last one to defend Australia being a Kiwi ;-) ... and Kiwi's are brought up to be hard on themselves and their country (ie. sports people). Many times I hate living in Sydney and not sure if I would if my...

Some comments about your Australian observations

Tom, Glad you had a good trip, appologise for the dodgy 'caravan' parks, but you can find those all over the world. Also sorry that you did not find anything good enough in New Zealand to highlight ... me being a Kiwi and all. Just thought I should counter a few points :): Aussie Television: Yep onl...

I'm pretty sure that they are not identical as the engine is located further back in the GTO. But I believe otherwise the same.

?, does the rear of the car seem high (when on the ground ofcourse)? Surely if the springs have been retensioned wrong the rear will sit too high and thus the rear axle will contact these 'cables' when at rest. I have no idea about Ferrari rear axles, but 105 series Alfa Romeos have axle 'drop' limi...

Just remember petrol is er, expensive over here, currently around $AUS1.40 per (metric) litre ... thus that Ford Falcon stationwagon might be expensive to run (?). Hi Pete, We're thinking about having a car that we can use to sleep in if we decide to go off the beaten path, so a wagon seems to be t...
