Re: 1967 365 GT 2+2 Road Trip

Was it a vintage Arizona license plate at least? :)

On he way home from Timo's you guys were a couple of cars ahead of me and I was amazed how well the car fit into the drizzly night. It looked so sure and poised. No fogged up windows and the ease it flowed through traffic - What a great car.

Re: Road Trip!

I met with Tom and Tom at Timo's shop yesterday. Timo was a generous and accomodating host with very interesting and diverse cars in his shop. Tom Budinger's 365 looks so elegant with its dark blue paint and gray interior and seems to be a fine runner too. In spite of rain and a snowy drive home it ...

Re: Road Trip!

Hi Tom
I would love to meet you and also get to have a chance to see what Timo is working on.
I live in Apple Valley, about 1 hour from Riverside and 3 hours away from west LA on a Friday night.
Anything is OK with me though as I will just plan my day accordingly.

Re: Fat Steering Wheel

On original Nadi wheels there is a stamping on the back that indicates the year. The wheel in my Mercedes has a "Square" stamped on the back with the number 64 and the word italy in it. I have also seen a "Circle". As far as I know all sixties wheels have the desirable thin wood rim and most are als...

Re: Horn Detailing

This thread is both informative and entertaining - I really enjoy it.
Question - Is Fiamm in any way related to the Maserati brand of airhorns?

And of course the most important question : which model Fiamm plays Dixie?

Re: Horn Detailing

Mike thanks for E3 info. I have a concern that this Fiamm serie 2000 is actually a 2006 manufacture because of the inclusion of this E3 marking. This is a picture i found of a Fiamm set currently for sale in Manila. Is it possible that this E3 is something in the past 10 years and not before? Craig...

Re: Horn Detailing

Just for another data point, here is a serie 2000 set from the 70's (i think). note the E3 marks....what does this signify? Craig Hi Craig The E3 mark means that the loudness of the Horn conforms with European Noise standards. You should find similar marks on other horns manufactured for european c...

Re: My 330 GT Engine To Be Rebuilt

Recall that the original leather has been redyed. All of it is good except for the collapsed driver seat and torn passenger seat. It is perforated, including the back of the front seats. Stephen has found a guy to replace the leather and we have a very close match from one of the samples. They also...

Re: My 330 GT Engine To Be Rebuilt

I have had very thoughtful responses regarding the radio. It seems a Becker Mexico is the best choice. HOWEVER, when I read a for sale ad in NY Times from 1970 when Cornelius Ryan was selling the car, it specifically states the radio was a Blaupunkt signal seeking 2 speaker system. HELP please. Do ...

Re: My 330 GT Engine To Be Rebuilt

The perforations look similar to what Mercedes used. My first step would be to contact Bill Hirsch. He has been in the leather business forever and is quite the gentleman. He will send you samples right away and have very good advise. http://www.hirschauto.com/ 396 Littleton Ave Newark, NJ 07103 Hop...

Re: Which radio for my 330 GT?

So its 1967 again and I want the dealer to put in a good radio. What would be the most correct (eg Becker Mexico) and where would I buy one? Thanks! Dan Reese Hi Dan I just went through this with my Mercedes 220SE. The "period correct" radio would be a Becker Mexico and they are priced accordingly ...

Anodized Grille - how to strip the anodizing

Hi Tom You can cut through the anodizing with a product that has been around forever. Turtle Wax Chrome Polish in the white and green bottle has enough grit in it to do the job. Being that harsh it is really not recommended to clean your chrome... Once you are at bare aluminum Autosol Chrome Polish ...
