To add to this discussion, there are a lot of "matching number" cars out there that have been made so with a set of stamps in the correct font. It may make us feel better to think we have an original car, but how do we really know?

Maybe a retorque of the heads is all that is needed. I had a similar situation after a rebuild and that solved my problem.

My only help on this topic is that many years ago I owned #3547 and in looking at some old grainy pictures of the engine compartment I can see red horn trumpets. Are they original? Maybe.

Or if you are willing to replace the rubber you can cut it with a knife and then the glass should be easy to pop out. I agree the glass is stronger than you thnk. I have heard that you need to be careful storing it to prevent warping if it will be off the car for some time. Mine was off the car for ...

My switches are fine I think. I can watch the ammeter move when I push the switch lever. The windows need to be jiggled, smacked, and pulled on to get them started moving. Tom, I had the same experience with my car when it was completed. It sat way too high on all 4 corners. Even reinstalling the engine did not lower it. My mechanic said this is common. He said drive it. It settled in right away.
