Re: GTE (with shields!) alert (3229)

To add to this discussion, there are a lot of "matching number" cars out there that have been made so with a set of stamps in the correct font. It may make us feel better to think we have an original car, but how do we really know?

Re: Coolant in oil?

Maybe a retorque of the heads is all that is needed. I had a similar situation after a rebuild and that solved my problem.

Re: Horn Detailing

My only help on this topic is that many years ago I owned #3547 and in looking at some old grainy pictures of the engine compartment I can see red horn trumpets. Are they original? Maybe.

Or if you are willing to replace the rubber you can cut it with a knife and then the glass should be easy to pop out. I agree the glass is stronger than you thnk. I have heard that you need to be careful storing it to prevent warping if it will be off the car for some time. Mine was off the car for ...

Yes the GTC is one piece. I don't know if you could tape up the multiple parts of your moulding to hold them all in place before the glass is installed on the car. I have heard of tapping the trim in place after the glass is installed but have no first hand experience with that.

Well, they have been replaced. I have not looked in that direction as the windows move pretty fast and smoothly after they start. I will however investigate that possibility. Thank you.

GTC power window problem

My switches are fine I think. I can watch the ammeter move when I push the switch lever. The windows need to be jiggled, smacked, and pulled on to get them started moving. Once they start they work fine. Cables and pulleys are fine. I have to believe I have a motor issue. However this is the same fo...

Mark Wallach is the person in Nyack who does wood restoration. Very interesting fellow to talk to. He has been around for a long time. He did my wheel and I am very happy with the results.

I sent my knockoffs and also my alloy wheels to Cork a few years ago. They look great. He also had to repair a rim chip. I am very satisfied with his work.

GTC Completion

Tom, I had the same experience with my car when it was completed. It sat way too high on all 4 corners. Even reinstalling the engine did not lower it. My mechanic said this is common. He said drive it. It settled in right away.
