thanks again. I saw the 250GTE I mentioned (see That said, the second I sat in the car it felt perfect. I am very tall (6'7) and had enough space both for head, hands and legs. The car is simply fantastic. They had a Dino next to it and I could have cared less. At 6'7", the Islero is definitely too...

[quote="Yale"]I've always wanted an Islero. However at the last Concorso Italiano I saw a guy with a 400GT, (the predecessor to the Islero), in amongst the other Lambo guys (an girls!) with the huge Lambo graphics on their cars or jackets looking sort of out of place. Now this guy had owned that 400...

250PF coupe at Heritage

Hello all, I'm getting serious about the 250PF at Heritage Classics. I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about the car. Also, I know there is a PF coupe registry somewhere. Can someone let me know how to get in touch with the person keeping the registry to see if he has any info about the ca...

I'm not dismissing Glyptal, I have no experience with it. You were concerned about powdercoat flaking inside an engine. I would be more concerned about an enamel brushed-on paint peeling off than a baked on powdercoat finish. I was just offering an alternative that will definitely not peel/flake off...

Glyptal is still just enamel paint. The best stuff to use to seal porous castings is a product by Loctite called Resinol RTC. It is a vacuum impregnated epoxy. We use it in our aircraft gearboxes to seal the housings. The downside is it is not a DIY process, but I would think getting the valve cover...

Tom, she's definitely a cutie. Good for you getting her involved with the car early. I wish I had the same patience, but unfortunately my mind keeps going back to the day I was out front with the kids and I watched as my daughter, who was 4 at the time, casually picked up a good sized river rock and...

William,

When Gary did the PPI for me at his shop, it was about $400. Figure a little extra for time/travel up to LA.

Gary Bobileff will travel to the car and should be able to do a thorough inspection (858-622-1600). He's in San Diego, but pops up to LA area to look at cars all the time. In fact, he often travels all over the world inspecting cars for his clients. Gary saved my butt on a Countach I was looking at....

Anyone have a similar list of 250PFs that might still be for sale. Other than a couple in Europe, with the corresponding high Euro exchange price, I haven't seen any on the market in about a year. What gives?

I had a PPI done on my old 400i at Blackhorse Motors in Los Angeles. It was about half that much and included a compression/leakdown check, and believe me, pulling 12 plugs on a 400i is a b*tch. Without compression/leakdown, I wouldn't pay more than $200.

Ok, not a grand for all the chrome - hyperbole, guys. My point is why repaint the car and put the nasty trim pieces back on when trying to get top dollar for the car? The headlight surrounds were the most overtly bad looking pieces, and you could certainly get those rechromed for a few hundred bucks...

250GTE at Heritage

Hey all, I was in L.A. this weekend and just happened to be driving down Santa Monica Blvd when I spotted Heritage Classics, so I pulled over and did a little window shopping - bummer, they were closed. I was very surprised to see the newly "restored" GTE sitting in the front window, with it's shiny...
