C. Thank you for that information. It’s a supplier I had not heard of before.

Re: Borani Wheel Refurb

Was that price from MWS (Langley, near Slough)?

It does sound expensive.

Re: Bypass filters in Columbo 4 liter engines

The change in Fram filter specs gave rise to a lot of discussion on Fchat, https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threa ... es.463579/

Re: Need Wiring Diagram GTE

Has the wiring diagram, or should that be ‘set of wiring diagrams’, found its way onto 250gte.com in the resources section? I’ve looked quickly and didn’t see it. It’s the perfect place and I’d like to politely request that it ends up there.

“ With pistons really stuck I use a grease gun to get them out.”

I like that! Controllable I think.

Re: Daytona Brake Caliper Rebuild

Be careful with the compressed air!

I managed to fire a brake piston across the workshop, chipping it and rendering it scrap.

In other words, ensure the piston will be properly restrained immediately it moves and leaves the cylinder.

It’s obvious in hindsight - like so many things.

Re: The Blog has been Hacked

Hello Tom I got the pharma website 2 days ago when linking from the home page ‘Blog’ picture to your blog. When I switched to the drop-down menu of links and selected ‘Blog’ I got the blog page without a problem. Today the home page picture link to the Blog worked fine. Maybe this is a clue, maybe n...

Re: A well deserved thank you

Absolutely agree this site is invaluable and a source of both hard-to-find information and sometimes parts.
Like most ‘clubs’ it’s what the members make it but the guy at the top (TY) sets the pace. Thanks Tom!

Re: GTO Engineering

Some years ago I met Mark Lyon while visiting GTO Engineering. Almost his first question was “would you like to sell your 250 GTE?” I declined because it seemed likely the car would become a donor, although Mark did have a very tidy ‘unmolested’ 250 GTE for sale at the time. So perhaps not. While I’...

Re: 330 America

Not a totally similar case at the Bonham’s Zoute (Belgium) auction yesterday. £502k inc premiums for a 250 GTE.
From the description and photos it may have had a significant proportion of the value spent on restoration. A very well known history too it seems.

Dowty seals

Hello Tom

Over here we know the composite nitrile/aluminium sealing washers as Dowty seals.

I’ve never seen them with copper. A pity as visually that might suit our setups better where used in plain sight.

Re: GTE Manual English Version

The manual in french has the same error. The tensioner clamping bolt torque is given as a slightly higher 9-9.5 kg m (65.1 - 69.7 lbs ft).

And yes, mine was also cracked.

Some years ago I saw that Piet Roelofs listed a remanufactured clamping boss.

TV Car Restorations and Makeovers

Tom, just saw your blog that asks opinions on TV shows describing restoration and modification of cars similar to, and sometimes the same as, ours. I have enjoyed, and still do enjoy, watching a number of such programmes. I don’t pay much attention to the portrayed timescales or cost summaries but I...

Re: Removing knock off spinners.....

Hello Tom I see on the Oldtimer website that RW32 sized hub spinners (275s and GTCs) are served by a separate appropriately sized tool. As Oldtimer sell a smart carrying case for their spinner tools they clearly expect them to be in cars for roadside use and not just workshop items. I agree it’s a l...
