Re: GTC toggle switch knobs

I have a couple of these round knobs, but not 6. I know someone makes these, and are available. I would start with Rutlands.

Re: How does the original Veglia Borletti clock for 250 Gte S3 look like?

Hi Chris, There are also two types, one is electro-mechanical, and the other one is purely mechanical. I would assume the SIII cars had the electro-mechanical ones where they are wound automatically with voltage. The purely mechanical clocks have a stalk that winds and sets the time and pokes throug...

Hi Christopher,

Yes, you are correct. The leather boot is usually glued to it.

Re: Finish of External water pipes on a 250 GTE?

I have had a handshake with every little part of that little f##ker and I am still learning something new about it. This hoop was in the box of parts when I got my car about 20 years ago and I had no idea where it went until tonight. It looked like it belonged to the car so I kept it. Thanks for me...

Re: GTC windshield - wanted

Hi Ed, It all depends on how original you want to make it. Some manufacturers can make safety glass without the modern stamp that is required by some countries so you can etch the period correct stamp. Although the FCA does not deduct for this stamp, the top notch restorers all etch their glass with...

Re: Finish of External water pipes on a 250 GTE?

Hi Chris, Yes. Nickel. Stainless would be better, but not original. There was some talk years ago about the steel being the sacrificial anode instead of the aluminum of the block, but switching to stainless will cause something else to corrode. Never use plain water on these cars, and make sure the ...

Re: Finish of External water pipes on a 250 GTE?

Hi Chris, The water pipe running from the back of the engine under the left side exhaust headers should be nickel. The one that houses the thermostat and connects to the radiator should be black wrinkle finish. If you're going to remove the water pipe that goes under the header (good luck, I think t...

Re: 250 engine dipstick question

I think the dipstick plate should be flush with the flange on the oil pan.

The dipstick stays in place with friction, not turning.

Hi Tom,

Sorry I haven't replied. I was out in Monterey, but it looks like you got your answers.

I believe the bracket was semi-glass black. At least that's what I did.

The original ones were plastic, but Michael Greenspan made a few from billet aluminum and had them powdercoated black.
