Ditto Tom's comment, the one on the right is what is on my Lusso. Jim

Re: Evaporust

Have used it for years on old rusted F parts and old aircraft castings. They say it is OK to dump it into the dirt when done as the iron is good for plants.
Easy on the hands, eyes, and nose.

Re: Painting a V12 engine

Steve, I have never used a clear coat on the engines, may look too glossy - don't know. The HD finish closely matches the factory finish both in color and gloss. Jim

Re: Painting a V12 engine

Have used the Harley engine silver and found it to be an excellent match and great quality. A little expensive, but HD materials usually are.

Re: engine sealant adhesives

Steve, the 518 is a great all around fluid interface. I always use it on the fuel lines to prevent the weeping that the yellow hoses seem to do. On castings be sure you do not over apply as you do not want it to squeeze into the engine. It is not that expensive if you check the eBay suppliers. Jim

Re: Flywheel bolts and locking up the motor

Ed, also be sure the bolt heads do not extend higher than the flush surface of the flywheel. That is why they use that flat locking strap in place of lock washers. The bolts are special grade 10 as well as the special length - as you have found out. Jim

Re: Timing Light

John, yes they are better and brighter, knowing that we must view the marks thru a small hole in the bell housing it helps. Also, if you can only see the one TDC mark, the adjustable ability on the new lights make it easier to know the advance degrees without seeing any other marks. Jim

I also had good results from the GT Parts Aussy head gaskets, and always re-torqued them after some miles were run.

Re: 365 GT 2+2 overheat fuse melt problem

Good contact between the fuse and the mounting tabs is critical. Be sure the clips are clean and hold the fuse tight. Also, the fuse end should be clean and bright. Any resistance in these high current areas will cause heat and relax the fuse fitting clips causing loss of power in that circuit. Thes...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit

FYI, many of the floats were cork, and they do not hold up well with the new gas. Most of the old cork floats break down absorb gas and sink; this may then look like a bad sensor element. Check both when the sensor is out of the tank. A modern plastic float from later cars can be slipped into the wi...

Re: Sealing the Tach Drive

Cory, These O rings are not extremely critical, low pressure etc., so finding something close that will slide into the distributor housing with out binding should work. Also, using silicone may not last too long as most are not oil resistant and do breakdown. Loctite 518 would be a better choice if ...

Re: Sealing the Tach Drive

Take the O ring off of the ends and go to Ace Hardware and sort through their selection and see what you can find. If not, most bearing supply houses carry the largest selection. Jim

Re: scissor jack for 330GT

Most scissor jacks from the usual auto parts stores and Walmart are very useful to carry in case of a flat. Never, but never use the post jack from the tool roll to lift the car; that could cause damage to the car and probably to you too!

Re: SI 330 Rear View Mirror

Tom, the "Talbot" style mirrors look OK and are just as unuseful as the real Talbots. Just do not screw them int the alloy doors, fender mounts will stay in place much longer. They were dealer installed as previously mentioned, and were up to the dealer as to what they used. Euros generally went wit...
