Re: GTC Recall

Dyke, as I recall this type of problem was also noted on the rear shocks on the 275's. I think your article in the Prancing Horse also covered those.

Re: fuel additives

Just to add to Dykes comment about long life antifreeze, it is much thinner than the standard fluid, and leaks can be a problem with it. The pre '93 gaskets and seals were not designed for this type of antifreeze. Jim

Re: Fuse panel clean up

Tom, the heavy copper staples are original, that is how they did the jumpers. As for the "black" wires, do not assume they are all grounds. You may want to trace them out if you can, or measure them to see if there is any voltage on them. I use a small battery charger to power things when doing work...

Re: Fuse panel clean up

Tom, also be sure that you have removed each wire and cleaned the ends, especially the ones that are in the 1 inch square jumper block with the 4 set screws. They have three different metals touching each other and all carry heavy amps - they oxidize easily. Ditto for the fuse ends and the holders. ...

Re: original fuel hose ferrules

One final tip when assembling the ends; be sure to add some Loctite 518 to the screw end when assembling. This will help prevent any future drips.

Re: GTC starter removal.

Tom, try the usual sources, but any Bosch rebuilder should have these in stock. The Marelli starters were licensed by Bosch and were made to their prints.

Re: GTC starter removal.

Glad you solved the problem, and she is working OK. Something for others to look for on the solenoid; If there is too much material removed or damaged on the contacts you may not be able to correct them. The rear contact plate and contacts are available, so a whole new solenoid does not have to be p...

Also do not forget to rebuild or replace the solenoid, it is usually the failure mode that you noticed. Jim

Re: poop

The observation by Dyke were confirmed with my conversations with Bob Wallace. He noted that multiple valve jobs or cutting too much material from the seats tended to weaken them

Re: Restoring 330 Rear Numberplate Lights

Darren, is there a similar cleaning product in the US like “Wonder Wheels”? Or can this be purchased in the US? Looks like a nice solvent for these old delicate parts. Any one have a source?

Re: Restoring 330GT 2+2 Door Handles

Darren, guided by your last text, we made the paddle starting with a steel bracket from a sliding door track that had two bent up ends. Drilled the holes for the rod and cut out the slot. All worked just fine. Just a note of thanks for your initial idea that these were easy to make, and they were. Y...

Tom, the 4 cam covers do not stick in place as bad as the singles, just a tap from a rubber mallet will do. No knives needed. Jim

Re: Valve Cover Removal

Tom, haven't chimed in for awhile, but I hate to use any chisels near any soft alloy parts, especially the cam covers. I made a tool that I use often on these engines, and it works well and NO damage. Purchased a cheap dent puller from Autozone, ground the head down on an M8X1,25 bolt. Drilled the p...

The smaller braid goes to a cam cover nut not the header.
