Re: So, is replacing the

What is a square cam washer? You are not talking about the rubber seal between head/valve cover & cam chain cover, are you?

Re: color of extractor vents

The chromed vent looks real good on a black 330GT. I think much of it comes from the 3-slot design, which is more like a trim piece compared to panel like louver design on 250GTE/early 330. Keep it! Keep it! Keep it!

Re: Weber Carb Gears

What material is that? Zamac? It might be possible to weld it back together with Alutight or an equivivalent. Haven't tried it on Zamac yet but they say it works. How does that piece connect to a shaft? Is there a collar that ties it down? Does it do its job as is or is there a functional problem wi...

Re: Remote Fuel Door Release Cable

At least in Europe, 100% accurate cable sheath is sold as a choke cable set. The only limitation is the length (2,5m = 8'2") which may not be enough for all applications. For the Alfa type latches I use braided stainless cable that is available in various thicknesses in marine shops.

Re: Fuse panel GTE/series III #4879

My car burned because the new type of voltage regulator (IR50A to match the new 400 watt DN63 generator) had been mounted terminals down with them almost in contact with the bodywork. As soon as a carb flooded the B30+ (unfused battery plus) ignited the puddle. The installation was soon changed term...

Re: Fuse panel GTE/series III #4879

German foot switch for hi/low beam is a very common conversion in Europe as Beetles are everywhere. Fat chance a swedish garage could figure out how a deviolux works, let alone connect five wires correctly!!! My car had one too. As soon as I found it, it went out of the door and into the night - fol...

Re: Axial Nut Torque Specification

Castle nuts often have a collar or a relatively thick washer that is supposed to be ground down to make a perfect alignment at correct torque. What comes to Borranis, there is a window for the center lock torque. If not tight enough, the splines will wear out and if over-torqued, the thread will sta...

Re: Leather seats

I picked up a French product called Akene intended for saddles and brides. Horse products have two great advantages why I like them; they are not multi-purpose products also tailored to treat the vinyl interiors (you can't tell modern leather and vinyl apart without cutting through to see the backsi...

Re: Leather seats

I recently had a close call with my perfectly patinated leather seats. Stored while out of the car, the front seats had gone real hard real fast. Luckily I had pre-thinked the possiblility and first felt the leather with the tip of my finger. Knock, knock, knock - not good. I corrected the situation...

That is a remarkable design. Young Giugiaro working for Bertone was a genius.

Anything he draw after leaving Bertone makes my eyes bleed (shivering in disgust).

Re: What is this?

3rd 250GT SWB chassis given to Bertone for a design study. New to Wax like so many speciales.
Have never really understood why Pininfarina allowed Bertone to build two specials (1739GT and 3269).

Re: 250GTE geeks

It is generally thought that the coil-overs were introduced for the third series. None of 2nd series cars that I've crawled under, didn't have them. Haven't inspected a late one though.

Best wishes, Kare
