Re: DINO Ignition Issue

I would also check the Ohms on the plug wires. I had a similar situation on a carbed Boxer recently and it was the 20+ year old wires

Re: DINO Ignition Issue

Michael, If I remember correctly, there is a section in the operating manula that shows how to bypass the Dinoplex in the trunk. You move around a couple of wires. It is very simple to do. I did it on my coupe when I owned it. If it runs its probably your Dinoplex. But as I remember these things the...

Re: Bleeding the brakes on a Daytona

Done it in a similar manner many times. Don't know whats' up except maybe one of the unions that direct brake fluid to the rear may have gotten clogged - but looks like both sides would have to be clogged to get nothing out of either. Someone smarter than me will have to help.

Good Luck,

Tom, thanks for posting.

I had never heard of mrfiat.

Re: Stuck Boxer Clutch

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think what I am going to do is cut a 2x4 to hold the clutch in, put the rear tires in the air on jack stands, star the car in first gear, get it warmed up then see if between the combination of break and throttle I can break it free. If that does not do it then put ...

Re: Stuck Boxer Clutch

Thanks guys, Yes it bumps forward when I have it in second with clutch engauged. I can start it in neutral; just will not go into gear as Dyke said when running and clutch engauged. Had not thought to try to start in first on the street but sounds like next step. will get it warmed up and give it a ...

Stuck Boxer Clutch

Just got my carbed Boxer together after an engine out service and the clutch is stuck to the flywheel. It probably sat for 6 months while I redid the dash then did the engine out. I manually confirmed the lever is actuating. Tried putting the car in 2nd with clutch engauged and and bumping the start...

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

Finally got the engine out of the Boxer this weekend thanks to Tom and SimonC's help. Not too bad but lots of time and work - its just a big job.

Now its time to make her bela again.

Re: Daytona Driveability Problem

I have a euro Daytona and have not had that issue. I owned a USA car previously and do not remember the car bogging down when starting off.

I would think it has to be something in the carb circuit. Even something like a partially fouled emulsion tube. What a pain. Good luck.

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

Thanks Tom. I get the process. Just mentally going thru the steps. Trying to decide if its worth removing the clutch/transfer gear pack as you did or just loosen the compressor and lower it like it looks SimonC did. The compressor bolts we are talking about being hard to get to. Those are the ones t...

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

Simonc,

Are you saying that after disconnecting the AC hoses, you can loosen the AC compressor bolts so that the compressor sits maybe an inch or so lower and have enough room to remove the engine?

Thanks,

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

Thanks guys. I plan on using the 4 post lift just to disconnect all the stuff that is easier to get to under the car. Then I am going to roll it off the lift and use a cherry picker similar to the pic Simonc posted. Its a friend's cherry picker and I appreciate the comments about getting the engine ...

Re: Boxer Engine Removal

Appreciate the comments. I replaced the lines that deliver and return fuel to the car a couple of years ago. Never thought about replacing the line between the tank or the one that fills the tank. Good thought. I have a 4 post lift that should help. But this job looks like one that you just take you...

Boxer Engine Removal

Tom, or for that matter anyone who has done this before. Was glad to see your diary on Boxer engine removal. I am getting ready to do this this fall. I have a carbed 512. Couple of questions: How are the engine mount bolts removed - from bottom of car? Assume you remove the large bolds down the midd...
