With a few thousand Ferraris still in existance using points could it really be that ponts for these cars will cease to exist? I remeber reading somewhere some caveats about electronic ignitions in the older V12 cars, FML? Tips and Tuning Techniques? Guide To Performance? somewhere.Yale

My other car is an older Mercedes (1985 300TDT wagon). In that world changing the olders cars (pre 1986) aircon systems to 134 is frowned upon as it doesn't seem to be nearly as effective in systems designed for R-12. By the way, the Mercs also use York compressors, as well as Nippondenso. Some peop...

Does this mean Tom that you want to do this with your car? If the reasons you gave are all positive, why not also go this route? Best, Yale

Are you guys doing the electronic ignition thing because you are unhappy with how your cars are running? Otherwise why? Best, Yale

OK so some of us have weighed in at this point on how it would be nice to have a more detailed list of suppliers and what they carry and how much they charge. The question is how does this get accomplished? Cak has his monster list of British Car suppliers which, when this list had a discussion of o...

One of the ones that came with the car fell off and I bought an orginal and that fell off too. Parker just sent me a new metal tab he made up for the remade one I had bought from him but not used since the old tabs would have obviously, (to me anyway), not kept the little sucker in. Especially where...

Because of a prior discussion on this list, Parker Hall now has a new clip that is quite springy which comes with his jack hole covers plus Tom Shaunessy (sp) also has had hole covers made up which he says should stay in. I haven't tried Tom's yet but I have gone through two others so far. Oh, in bo...

Yes it was GT Car Parts. I don't want to dis any of the suppliers but at the same time just a general list of Ferrari parts carriers is not super helpful when the majority of parts are out of stock from the majority of suppliers. I can't tell you how many times I have been told whatever the part is,...

Boy nobody wants to open up on this topic. How about if one of the site gurus Tom, Kerry, or Jon Brent had a space that just logged parts purchases with prices and places? Probably sounds like a lot of work, but you realize only about 60 people have looked at this string at this point and I bet ther...

Yeah and look at that the high bidder of the moment is Sanpilot again. This is the third 330 he has bid on and I don't believe he has taken delivery of any of them even though he has won the last two auctions. Yale

Parts

I have been thinking a lot about parts lately. After Tom and I took that 500 mile round trip down to Cumberland Md. I then drove a couple hundred miles up to Rhinebeck with the family to visit friends. The car didn't feel exactly right, the wheels seemed out of balance and it felt like something was...

This used to happen to me if I was in a traffic start and stop situation. It was vapor lock and Francois suggested that I use the electric pump at these times, (as suggested in the manual). I did this until one day (with Tom in the car actually), I lost power while moving well. Indeed, it was time t...

My understanding is, except for the "limited" cars like the Super America's etc, all the cars were essentially the same price per era. Around $12,000 from Chinetti in NYC during the 330GT period, though I have heard that there was some "play" there. The limited cars were substantially more given the...

I keep wondering if that ebay two headlight really did sell. The high bidder, Sanpilot or something like that had no previous buys and has a name very similar to Calipilot also with no buys on ebay who reneged on an earlier ebay 330 auction. Also, it hit 40 G's a few days before close and then did n...

Gullwing Motors in Long Island City, remember them Tom? has yet another red Four Headlight for sale, 26,000. "Partially restored, not running." Oh brother. It's nice that people have nice things to say about Fantasy Junction as you almost never hear nice things about any exotic car dealer. Best, Yale
