Re: 330GT frozen front suspension

I have found the proper tool to compress the front springs without too much danger. I will try to photograph it for you by the end of the week. There is a slight chance that once the spring is removed, you can try exercising the suspension to free up the binding. The orignal bushings were made of a ...

Re: Screws during the paint job

Here's a picture of SN 2259, which I photographed as it was parked in 1967.

I have higher resolution pictures, but the bolts on the hinges are body color, and I believe the gas filler are the same.

Melchior wrote: Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:21 am Yes this is most likely factory fitted. This red hose shows spatters of black undercoating and looks 1960‘s throughout. It would be helpful if others with knowingly original GTEs could inform about their red hoses.
Yes, the red hose is correct for GTEs to protect the yellow fuel hose.

Re: Factory Ferrari visit tips needed

We will be in Paris for my MIL's 90th Birthday, and we are headed to Florence afterwards, so I have arranged a visit to the Factory for a tour. My question is to those who have done this before: anything special in Maranello to do while there? Is it possible to see build documents of my '67 330GT, ...

Re: 365 GTC/4 US emission equipment power loss

Hi Kristian,

With all the variables from states of tune to overall health of an engine, it will be hard to determine how much of it is really the effect of the emissions unless you have two identical rebuilt engines, but one with US specs, and one with European spec.

Larry Hernandez was nice enough to go out to his car and take some pictures of his GTE 2259, a car that I worked on and confirmed it's an original unrestored car. The screws on this car seem to be painted, slotted, flat head screws.

Hope this helps.

These are great questions and I will have to look further. I seem to recall them being painted body color but I'll have to see if I have pictures of an original car.

Re: 330 Engine Bay- While You're In There Tasks

The one thing that is much easier to replace while the engine is out is the soft line to the clutch slave cylinder! If I remember correctly, the steering box is the same as in the GTC, and if the bottom seal is leaking, the upper suspension arm has to come out. If it's seized in the sleeve, it'll be...

Re: 365 GTC/4 US emission equipment power loss

Hi Kristian,

I'm sure there is some parasitic loss from the air injection system along with all the other minor changes, but 20 hp is a 5% difference which may not even show up in the real world, unless you're comparing two fresh engines at WOT.

Re: What is the normal oil temperature on a 330?

Hi Steve, That sounds about right. Oil temp will fluctuate depending on how the is driven, but for regular street use, it'll come very close to following the coolant temps. In hot weather, it will exceed the coolant temp, but as long as the coolant doesn't boil over, you should generally be OK. The ...

I wish Butch a happy retirement. I'm glad I had a chance to finally meet him in person a couple years ago when we met up with Kerry:

Hi Laurent,

I have a 365 currently at my shop and the pulley roughly measures 160mm outside diameter. This is by no means accurate as I did it with a ruler.

I have the floor panels of my 250 GTE redone currently and need pictures to support the work. Unfortunately all links here seem dead and the email adress posted doesn’t work either. I also need information about the mysterious fiberglass mats. Which material did you use for replacement? Any help is...

Re: Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 radiator fan noise

I've also seen (heard) the fan pushing against the bushing or bracket due to the play in the shaft. Spinning the fan by hand doesn't make a noise, but when the fan is pushing air, it pushes against he bushing.

Good luck!

Re: Instrument removal GTE

Hi Graham, The gauges all come out individually from the front without removing the dash. They're held in with knurled knobs and brackets. It's going to take some contortions and squeezing your hands into tight spaces to get them out, but it can be done. I find it easier to remove the speedo or tach...
