Re: fuel pump push rod stroke
To clarify, the push rod seems to cycle once for every 2 crankshaft rotations.

Re: fuel pump push rod stroke
Thanks Tom, the travel on mine is exactly 2.5mm, it also seems to cycle at half the crankshaft rotation. I had an interesting failure after doing some work on my mechanical pump that developed a minor leak. I also needed to flatten the warped mounting flange and phenolic spacer by sanding flat and p...

Re: fuel pump push rod stroke
I have already measured the stroke on mine but I was wondering if anyone knows what the specification is or even what theirs is.

fuel pump push rod stroke
Does anyone know how much total stroke the fuel pump pushrod is supposed to have? this is the rod driven off a cam in the engine.

Re: points rub block lubrication
Thanks for all the replies. I might have found the problem that prematurely wore down the rub blocks in that one distributor. When I went to replace the points, I made sure the 6mm hole fit the pivot shaft freely with no binding. I then added the small metal washer and the phenolic washers to the st...

Re: points rub block lubrication
Ed thanks for the reply, I bought another set of points from GT to try again, I should mention the failure to them.
I have had good experience with electronic pick-ups such as Pertronix on other cars so I'd be interested in converting. What brand or part number is working for you?

Re: points rub block lubrication
John, thanks for the reply, that is a good point (pun intended) I can't thing of anything else. I just removed the other distributor and confirmed that everything looks good, gap ok and no abnormal wear with the cam and wick retaining a light film of grease. I'll assume the fit between the pivot pin...

points rub block lubrication
I had an interesting failure on the way back from Concorso in Monterey. Cylinders 7,8 and 9 took a vacation, so the best explanation was the set of points that fire those cylinders bought the ticket, I was correct. The failure of these essentially brand new points in the left distributor was the rub...

Re: 330 ignition timing
While I had my flywheel off last month (330 engine) it was convenient for me to put a dab of white paint on the timing marks so I could see them better with a timing light and I remember marking a line that was at 42 degrees BTDC (PM 1/6)

Re: Is my relay bad?
Maybe it's a bad ignition switch allowing current to the relay thereby closing the contact.

Re: GTC rear pillar question
The vent slots on my car are nicely stitched up, it's a later car made in 1968. Is it possible there were complaints in the day and this was the solution?

Re: 330 cooling fans
I replaced one of my motors with one from a Jaguar, the weird thing was there was an arrow mark on the end cap that apparently indicated rotation direction but it actually rotated the opposite direction. Unfortunately reversing the spade connections did not reverse it, I needed to reverse the wiring...

A 5/8" inch will usually work on a 16mm hex, it's what I used on that nut.

I glanced quickly at the switch and are you sure you can "pry" it apart? looks pretty snug in there. here's the link to my photo. thanx. s http://tomyang.net/cars/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4480 Sorry Steve, my procedure was for a relay, I thought you meant the ignition relay on the fuse panel, I n...

Re: Trouble starting my GTC
Relays are very easy to check, first remove it from the car, then remove the cover, connect a 12 volt battery to the appropriate terminals, observe that the small coil pulls the contact points together, if that works well, file the contacts smooth with a point file or something similar. Now attach a...
