I have to say; it's been awhile since we have had a debatable subject matter. It’s good to see knickers in the uproar. I dare to add fuel to the fire by saying: the 300SL is terribly un-sexy (or at least sexy only in a Teutonic sense), especially heavy, underpowered and overrated.

Sheehan has just posted a 275 GTS. It is in a very pretty color. It is interesting that he is also offering a Series II 250 Cabriolet at the same time. The Cabriolet is also in a very nice color. 250 Gearbox

I need to replace gearbox synchros. I understand the gearbox can come out through the cabin. Are there any special steps I need to keep in mind? Advice will be appreciated.

Who would be a good source for the synchro rings?

My PF Coupe is a Series 1 car, meaning, drum brakes, taller wheels and slimmer tires, no overdrive and a smoky (by nature) inside plug engine, all translating to an old fashioned ride. The PF Cabriolet we are talking about here is a Series 2 car with the overdrive, the disc brakes, a more powerful o...

In my opinion, classic cars are first about sex appeal, and then somewhere in the lower rankings comes practicality. Buy the car that is beautiful to your eyes, and your eyes only. Trust your own gut feeling.

I agree with Booth. But the majority of the gain in the asking price of these cars seems to have happened in the past 12-18 months. As for the hood scoop, I prefer the Coupe cars without the scoop, but the Cabriolet I would take either way. The scoop is not really very becoming of an elegant tourer,...

In one of the auction reports of the current Sports Car Market a similar car brought a similar price as Sheehan's. It is noted that this model has "quadrupled" in price in the past years. In another auction report of the same issue a "condition 4" PF Cab II fetched about $140k.

Paul,

With a propane tourch gently and slowly heat the canisters. You need to do it slowly so that the heat will find its way to the rubber filter seals and make them expand and soften. Next time try lubricating the seals and only hand tighten.

The piece would be pretty hard to replicate. It is made of three basic pieces: a machined "bolt", a Bakelite section and the internals, i.e., spring, diaphragm, points, etc. They are all pressed together. It is a lot easier to tack on a (NAPA) pressure switch at the end of the Ferrari switch. The en...

Yale, If that switch is anything like what was used on the 250's (on the master cylinder) you're out of luck as it is not being reproduced. Mine went bad and I had to modify it to accept a switch from another car. The replacement switch came from NAPA and the electrodes were such that I didn't have ...

There are Lamborghini engined speed boats, but haven't seen any Ferrari powered boats yet.

Most likely it will end up in a custom rod. I saw one a couple of years ago with a GTC/4 and it was pretty neat.

Enrique,

I happened on this site a couple of weeks ago and thought it strange to see a very decent 250GT PF Cabriolet listed for just $59,300. This is type of car retails for around $150,000.

Keith,

Don't you live in the Monterey area? Who will work on the hood? I know a panel beater in Monterey I can put you in touch with. He has extensive experience with the exotics.
