If a brake fails to release long enough to jack up the car, just releasing pressure at the suspect brake with the bleeder valve will tell you a lot. That is the simplest diagnostic, usually.

I now have about 600 miles on my car with the new muffler heat shields and they DO work to significantly lower floor temps. If you have about 3 square feet of radiating surface (330 GT) of very hot pipes and mufflers, directly radiating to a surface (the floor) just a couple of inches away, you don...

Dragging/Locked front brakes.
I have had the same thing 3 times. In all three cases the brake hoses had swelled shut - you could force fluid past them but it would not release, unless the car sat for many hours, or the pressure was manually released. I was using good fluid, but the hoses apparently reacted in some way with the f...

I second what Matt said - it is a great event. And I was glad to meet his family and a very nice car, including the child seat. No trailer queen! One of the best features of the event from both the spectator and racer's point of view is the paddock area. The spectators can walk around and look at th...

Subaru Water Pump
Hi Steve
Sounds like a research project!
What model Subaru has the right parts - and which pump parts?

Presssure Caps
Jimmy The caps were OK - the pressure cap was on the expansion tank. I don't read Italian - so I don't know what pressure it is set for. Going along with your comment - I am going to take a test drive run with no pressure to confirm the problem. (Just like a pre-war Ford V-8) And tomorrow I will cal...

Water Pump Leaks
Thanks Jimmy: The pump has been rebuilt twice - by a well known Ferrari specialist who did the entire engine. The first time the seal failed was during initial road testing - it was discovered the Ferrari source was selling an after-market kit which just did not have enought spring pressure. The kit...

Back to Water Pumps
The recent thread on seals/rebuild parts ended with the issue kind of unresolved. Since then my pump started leaking (well, maybe "leaks" is understated) when I gave it a real 90+ degree run with A/C on, and then parked it and let it idle to simulate traffic. Everything worked fine except for the su...

Ignition Drop
Is the 10.4 voltage you measured when cranking, or static with just the ignition turned on? If the latter, check what it is while the starter is engaged.

There is a P4000, and if still available, a P4000E, which, as I recall is a Z rated tire. These were original equiptment on the 95 Jaguars. I not sure , but when I bought a set for my XJ12, I paid about $180.00 each. Z rated and above, have higher heat and speed ratings. And very important, they ha...

Tan Deposit - Viscosity somewhere between whipped cream and peanut butter? And it wanted to fill up everything? I had exactly that when I rebuilt my '56 Ford Truck engine. It turned out to be insufficient crankcase/valve chamber ventilation, as I had changed the block from one with a road draft tube...

Final Report - Replacement Springs for Late (A/C, PS 330)
The stiffer springs (15%) at the specified length are about right - the suspension geometry is as the manual shows. Now that I have driven it some, the handling is somewhat different. There is now some body roll in a fast sweeper. With both the original springs and the NOS springs from FAF the loade...

Spring Testing
Hi Michael: Did the spring test confirm the Ferrari specs? And does your 330 have additrional front end weight due to AC and PS, as does mine? I am wondering about developing new spring specs for the late model 330s. New coils are certainly easy to have made, and cheaper than buying NOS springs whic...
