Re: 250 GTE Piston set question

Tom and Martin, When I had Terry Myr (near Port Huron, Michigan) rebuild my 365 engine in 1996, I couldn't find Borgo pistons so I bought them from Venolia in Long Beach, CA. They are machined, forgings. At that time I bought them for $50 each. They might be more now - Ha, Ha! They were beautiful an...

Re: Leather seats

Mark, I know I said my Pagoda would be done before Zac could finish your Queen, but it won't. I'm getting too old to work on a car full time. I'm going to take my time and finish it this Fall and Winter. It's not even back from the body restorer yet. I told him to take his time also. When I saw your...

Re: Leather seats

Mon Dieu! Il est encore en vie après tout! Au sujet du cuir, qu'est-ce que j'aurais dû faire? Le cuir ne marche pas dans la Pagode, et je n'aime pas gaspiller les objets rare. My God! He`s still alive after all! Regarding the leather, what should I have done? The leather doesn`t work in the Pagoda, ...

Re: Leather seats

I took the leather out of the box yesterday afternoon and realize that it really was disassembled. Most of it is in carefully unsewn pieces for making patterns for the reupholstery. That`s probably good, because the thread was original and probably half rotten anyway. With the stitching holes all th...

Re: Leather seats

Sorry, I thought "Orange" was what he called the most common Ferrari leather color, Pelle Beige 3218. WOW! Those really are ORANGE, like an almost too-ripe pumpkin. Anyway, I`ll keep my old leather in the plastic bag, in the box, on the shelf. Someday, it will perhaps be needed to repair an "origina...

Re: Leather seats

Here what it looked like just before I had it replaced. You can see that the driver's seat was not perfectly repaired. That's why I kept it in plastic bags in a box on the shelf. One never knows when someone else might need some old leather. Shaughnessy isn't the only serving his fellow man. Tom Kizer

Re: Leather seats

Yale, when I restored my '69 Queen I saved all the old leather. I changed all the leather one year after having carefully stripped and redyed the original leather. It was always #3218 Pelle Beige (or as you said, "Orange"). I replaced it because the driver's seat was too cracked to repair. However, ...

Re: Battery

I just got a notification of this post and reread the entire thread. I promised to post a photo of my "fake" battery top when I finished it. I didn`t. Here it is. I left off the handles since I ran out of time before Cavallino XIX (2010). Apparently the heat of a trip from Maryland to Palm Beach did...

Re: 5th Annual Radcliffe Motorcar/Tomyang.net Vintage Ferrar

PS Does Tom K have any regrets after selling the Queen?? Every time something like the 5th Annual Radcliffe Motorcar/ Tomayng .net Vintage Ferrari Car Show happens, I have regrets. Maybe they will diminish a little when the Pagoda starts going back together - I can hear the paint being mixed now. B...

Re: Adjustment of 40DFi air bleed

Hi Jimmy, There's an old thread that provides a clue. It's called "Carb Synching" and pops up immediately if you search those words. There's also one called "Carb Synching (the sequel)" The first (and maybe the second) was started by John Vardanian. In that first thread somewhere, I described very r...

Re: NOS Koni Self Leveling Shock for Sale

That's an interesting observation. I noticed the difference in the 365 GT 2+2 parts book, but since Maranello Concessionaires sold it to me to replace the one in my Queen, I assumed it was just an interchangeable but "improved version" for the C4, and maybe even the Daytona. Since I never used it, I...

NOS Koni Self Leveling Shock for Sale

Thanks, Tom, for permitting me to post this. Since my Queen is gone, I no longer need insurance, so I'm making this New (at least unused) Koni self-leveling shock available. I expect that the shock that I have is one of the last, so I would rather see it go directly to a sagging Daytona, Queen or C4...

Re: Cavallino 2012

Zac, I think you're right about going to Cavallino without a car, at least partially. Maybe it's better to go with someone who takes a Ferrari. I went to FCA2008 and Cavallino with my car and FCA2009 (Elkhart Lake) without my car because, as Brother Dave Gardner used to say in the 60s, "It broke." W...

Re: Cavallino 2012

Sam. I hope to see you and your daughter there. It should be fun. What about Michael B, Bryan P, Ricky Bobby and Mark D? Mark should get that hog hauler out of the barn and spoil the old girl on a bit of black top for a change !! (Zac told me about Mark's recent coast to coast jaunt in the old girl...
