Re: Dying Daytonaspider beauty?

John, thanks for your kind words, it's great fun to spend time with like minded folks, only thing missing is a decent Parisian cafe. Right now, I am writing from a taco stand in central Mexico. The only thing Ferrari, around here is a bunch of knock off SF images plastered onto rusted out VW's. Corn...

Re: Compatible parts for early ferrari's

Well Cornelis: Let us know when you intend to join us. We may need to have a bottle of Schnapps at the Tom Yang event and we can raise a glass to the MB folks. Will you have mirrors on the toes of your shoes? Otherwise, we can meet in Maranello and stage a Classiche Protest, which is much more agree...

Re: Compatible parts for early ferrari's

well, those ati-terrorist mirrors would not work with Ferrari's anyway, too many short skirts nearby. The PB judges would get distracted. The MB folks are'nt such a bad lot, they enjoy a self satisfied existence with "einspritzung" leading the way. From what I can tell MB actually likes their Gullwi...

Re: Pertronix kit to replace points in S85

My personal experience with the Pertronix system has been dogey, but it has been 10 years, and the subject vehicles were British. For my 365 gt 2+2 I was tempted but resisted, and bought a point file instead. Cornelis: Too bad about your agricultural expedition, I'm sure the farmer was pleased to se...

Re: Pertronix kit to replace points in S85

Hey Cornelis:

Are those original tires on your ride? The tread pattern looks very vintage.

Re: 365 GT 2 + 2 restoration

Hi A.D.

When I inatalled the carbs on my engine, I used a standard end wrench (spanner) and tightend the nuts, with new wave washers until the washers were flat. Mike Pierce advised me on this procedure. I also used a thin layer of Hylomar on the gasket surfaces.

Re: valve adjustment screws

Thanks Guys. Yes, I suspect poor materials for the screws, glad I caught it. I just received some replacements from one of the usual suspects, they have a different appearance. I will use them for the exhaust side and see what happens. The intakes were barely worn, so I have at least another service...

Re: valve adjustment screws

Hi Guys: OK I am well into my valve adjustment process. I have about 7000 miles on the current set of screws. The intake screws are barely worn, except for one which had tightened up. The exhaust screws are another matter. They all appear to need replacement, and in fact two of them started to spall...

Hi Kerry:

For what it's worth, my 365 gt 2+2 has the covers on both sides.

Re: valve adjustment screws

Thanks Tom:

I am of the same persuasion "If it aint broke...", which annoys my friends. Just thought I would ask. I hear about this stuff from time to time, but rarely meet a real person that can authenticate, well except for the needle bearing thing, but I still remain skeptical.

Re: valve adjustment screws

Thanks Tom: I've heard of folks using the Porsche version of the screw, or is that just a myth. I like the fact that the Porsche version has more surface area than the oem, but I must say, I am a bit of a purist when it comes to parts. On another subject, have you tried the needle bearing upgrade on...

valve adjustment screws

Hey you guys. Any preferred vendor for adjustment screws? I've heard of shoddy merchandise being supplied, and of course Jimmy is witness to that.
I would like to avoid a repeat of his experience.

Thanks in advance.

cam timing and service 365 gt 2+2

OK, so I am spending part of my recession performing a major service. So far I have removed the valve covers and chain covers, plugs, and distributor caps, for convenience. I have #1 at TDC and i just checked the clearance of the exhaust and intake. They are very close to spec. if not right on. I th...

Re: 330 GTC

Hi Elizabeth:

Fantasy Junction has a 365 GTC for sale. I have seen it in person, looks great, and should for the cost of resto.
You might want to give FC a try, they are very open to visitors.
