Hello Mike Removing the heads of these cars is much easier with the engine out. There looks to be so much more room around the heads from Simon's pics than a GTC4 & I would say it is not a must to remove the engine first on the 400 series. The scuttle also does not come as far forward as on the GTC4...

Michelin still manufacture occasional batches of XWX that are available in the UK if that is what you want to fit. I would assume they are available in the US
