Exactly which cars had valve stem protectors installed seems to be open to debate. I lost 1/2 point at one concours for having them on, so I removed them, then lost 1/2 point at the next concours for not having them.

So I left them on, they look elegant and fit the car.

Dan,

If you are driving anywhere near Berkeley, make an appt to stop by Patrick Ottis' shop (off the Gilman exit from 880) for a final curburetor tweak. He is the best there is in my experience, and also a really high-quality individual.
Thanks guys for the help - the knob on eBay is the right one but I think I may have found a source in the form of Mike Dunn at Madenterprise. He tells me he makes identical, stronger than original copies that would do fine at Pebble beach...not that that is where I'm heading!
...

Good to know that "They will be extremely valuable in the future and very possibly to California Spider territory!". Maybe I'll be able to trade my 330GTS across for a GTO someday!

I think 330's all had black oxide on the throttle shafts, at least mine did. The Eastwood cold black oxide kits work well enough, but a professional hot black oxide is more uniform and will last longer.

Black oxide needs WD-40 application or equivalent every once in a while, it's not rustproof.

It seems that the hydraulic clutch is unusually difficult to bleed in the ordinary way. I eventually succeeded by vacuum-bleeding at the slave. Probably pressure-bleeding from the reservoir would be more effective - the vacuum bleed collapsed the clutch pedal to the floor for some time.

John,

Did you vacuum-bleed at the slave, or pressure-bleed from the top, or just pump the pedal?

No, Pierce Manifolds did a nice job of straightening my carb bodies in an oven with jigs. The problem was that one idle mix screw was hugely sensitive to adjustment, requiring only 1/8-1/4 turn or so open to get a roughly correct mix rather than the usual 1 to 1-1/2. I changed needles, looked carefu...

I forgot to say, with our oxygenated gas, interpreting the Colortune's color is not as easy as it was in the past.

John, I used a single Colortune plug to diagnose a bad lower carb body on my 330. The "flame" color was yellow and flickering no matter what I did with the idle mix screw. Before that, the most direct suggestion I got was to drill and tap a hole in each header tube for an exhaust gas analyzer probe ...
