I'm developing a very strong desire for a 400i. Are there some links to definative sites were I can get more information? I loooove the old Ferraris out of the sixties like Tom's georgous 330 America, but I'm the first to admit, I'm not ready for that kind of investment in both time and money. I fig...

An amazing story and amazing car! Ferrari owners never cease to amaze me with their gratiousness and decorum. Part of wanting a Ferrari is mixing with that crowd!

Josh, ya I haven't used the polishing media yet. I just might. Even if I determine that the tumbler isn't the right thing for fasteners, it does have its place for small parts, spacers, etc. They come out wonderful. Tom & Pete - Ah the wire wheel launcher! Suppose the right way to go would be a benc...

The perfect bolt

I've been on a quest to master some of the fundamentals of restoration. One that has kept eluding me is how to clean nuts and bolts. I bought this "tumbler" that gun folks use to clean brass. It's similar to the one you can get at Eastwood. It kindda works. Slooow. Takes hours if not days with ruste...

OT: Anybody try the "CarCapsule"?

Sorry if this is too far off topic, but this product looks too cool. Do you know anybody who has one? What do they think of it?

Hi Jim,

How did you actually do that? Do you have any pictures?

Thanks!

Ah McMaster...my favorite company. They are located 15 minutes from my office and have a with a Will Call window. If anyone remembers the infinite warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, that’s McMaster. I can have almost any product in their catalog in my hands within 45 minutes! One of t...

Hey, opinions! I pretty much agree with you on replicare, although mandatory crushing them is a tad harsh! Honestly, if I can't afford given car, I settle for the real McCoy of whatever I can. Replicas usually don't wear well. Heck, if you're going to get a Ford, get the new GT (GT40). IMHO, i...

Just curious, are you doing the work yourself as an amateur? (Meant in the best sense of the term) Or are you a professional. I've always had a ton of respect for folks who dive right in and "learn-as-they-go" (ala Tom). It's one thing to do that with a regular issue car, but a vintage Ferrari shoul...

Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, NASA, Harley-Davidson, BMW & Porsche specify HeliCoils where parent materials are weak. Boeing uses them very extensively. Although not Ferraris, these manufacturers are not to be dismissed as makers of "lawn mowers". Unless the block is aluminum, then I'd have ...

I did a little research a while back. Just going off memory. I don't think any kit is possible given the mind numbing level of detail. If you do an internet searh of his name, a few links (and a specialty model reseller/house in particular) will appear. Frankly, I don't see why Ferrari doens't get i...
