Re: Wiper motor removal

Aha! Thanks Kerry. I got it out, but the end of the crank pin on the large plastic gear got chipped so I be looking for the part. I am hoping since it's Lucas it should be available.

Wiper motor removal

I cant seem to get the drive cable loose from the drive socket in the wiper motor transmission. I assume its like a speedo cable with a square drive. I have wiggled and pulled to no avail. I thought it would just slide out, maybe I need to get tougher or is there a secret? Thanks, Tom Martinez from ...

Re: Gauge lighting

Peter, nice work hunting those down. It's hard to tell exactly why the LED I bought won't fit because I'm feeling around in the spaghetti, I wiggled, jiggled and pushed but could not get the bulb into the gauge receiver. It feels like a diameter issue rather than a length. The diagram with dimension...

Re: Gauge lighting

I doubt that you will find a LED bulb that will fit into the gauges. I bought some LED bulbs for the side marker lights that said that they would fit per the bulb number. When they came, the base was correct, but the bulb diameter was too large to fit into the receptacle. Since the gauge bulbs are ...

Re: Fixing holes in the glove box door

Here's some photos of the dirty deed, to add insult you can see staining and lack of natural fading from the brass shield. I tried to blend the discoloration with some light abrasive and that's when I perceived that it had some type of finish rather than raw wood. the back side of the door definitel...

Re: Gauge lighting

I carefully measured an original bulb and the fitting that pushes into the instrument and it looks like it might fit, so I bought just one to see if it will work, I should get it next week so I’ll report in as soon as I’m able.

Re: Fixing holes in the glove box door

I believe the teak from the factory is unfinished -- there is no clear coat or any other coating. It's just raw teak finished with teak oil. Watco teak oil (available at Home Depot) is excellent. You can treat the plugs with teak oil to get a feel for how well they will match the dash. Hi peter, th...

Re: Fixing holes in the glove box door

You and me both Steve, that damned badge was mounted with two 5/16" holes through the dash. I have some teak plugs but I'm trying to figure out how to blend them into the existing finish, which is still that satin semi-gloss clear. I'm afraid of the slippery slope that forces me to refinish the whol...

Re: Gauge lighting

Peter, thank you kindly for the thoughtful comprehensive reply. I think I will just try replacing the instrument and warning lights. I'm not too worried about the color, but if I have a choice I'll take your advice, I just need everything brighter. I'm not too worried about the dimmer, I don't think...

Gauge lighting

Hello all, now that the days are shorter and my vision is not what it used to be, I'd like to increase the brightness of the instrument lights. (330 GTC) I've already cleaned the rheostat and connections and my column switch has been refurbished. I wonder if taking apart and cleaning up the dash tog...

Re: Daytona Bell Housing

Hi Steve, that looks really fresh, did you clean the sheared end of the stud off too? it looks twisted in there. You will need to remove the housing to fix it. Of course examine the clutch while you are at it, maybe you will get lucky and find the car needs a clutch job, saving another housing remov...

Re: Pinifirina Body Number

I think I have seen numbers stamped on my doors (A GTC with a build date early 1968) but can't remember what they were. For sure my car has a Pininfarina number stamped on the trunk floor under the spare tire. I also recall seeing a number on the horizontal shelf above the brake booster, but I don't...

Re: GTC Parts

There was someone advertising GTC parts in FML, doors, and glass I think, you might need to search the back issues.
