Re: Cross Reference for Clutch Master and Slave

Steve: One more thing, gravity bleeding silicone fluid in 1960s Corvettes is easy and works perfectly. If a Corvette will not gravity bleed, you have a master cylinder compensation port problem.

Re: Cross Reference for Clutch Master and Slave

Steve: OK, you have me sucked me in on this deal so here is my take on bleeding: 1. Gravity should always be the preferred method. It is simple, and has the least chance of creating problems. It does take time depending upon how well the system flows fluid. 2. Pumping the pedal can create all sorts ...

Re: Cross Reference for Clutch Master and Slave

Do not bleed silicone fluid (or any other kind) by pumping the pedal. There are a lot better ways to bleed hydralics than pumping the pedal available today.

Re: Cross Reference for Clutch Master and Slave

I have used silicone fluid in all my personal street Ferraris for both brakes and clutch since 1977. Absolutely no problems. I change it every 10 years out of guilt, but have never seen a real need to change it. I also do NOT flush or dismantle the systems before installing the fluid, just drain out...

Re: Cross Reference for Clutch Master and Slave

Steve: The hose they are telling you to replace is the high pressure flex hose that goes from the hard line under the car to the slave. When you are ready to bleed the system, let me know as there are tricks to bleeding it out. You might want to think about converting to silicone fluid at this time ...

Re: Tool Bag Handle

Tom: As long as I have got myself into this mess, here are my observations about the tool bag handles. I also have seen both straight and curved handles. However, the straighter handles were usually on Jack Bags that do not have as much weight to carry. I do not think I have ever seen a straight han...

Re: Tool Bag Handle

Tom: You need to go back and look at my previous post about Toolkits. The factory bought toolkits in batches. When they ran out, they would ask for bids from various suppliers. The lowest cost won the bid, and the kits were done to a general set of Ferrari specs. So each batch will have subtle varia...

Re: 330 gas tank fuel float access

Jim: I was going to tell you that it was under the parcel shelf, but then I did not trust my 40 year old memory of being in there on a 330. So I started to look in the Body parts book and it did not help at all, so I did not reply knowing somebody else would have more recent knowledge. As to sunk fl...

Thanks to Tom Yang for the Monterey Party

I wanted to extend a special thanks to Tom for his efforts and hospitality at his annual party in Monterey. Sue and I had a great time and met many of the forum members. Tom's 250 GTE was spectacular in its originality. It is hard to believe the car was unmolested for so long. It looked great! As us...

Re: Weber Carb Gears

John: As to my current carb tuning methods, my level of knowledge is a work in progress. I know a lot more now than I did 35 years ago. What I wrote then reflected my level of expertise at that time. Since then I constantly learn more with each car I work on, and exposure to different marques also b...

Re: Weber Carb Gears

John: Your lash adjustment seems about right. You want to be as tight as possible without any binding. What I think you are not doing correctly is synchronizing the carbs. 1. Get all three primary barrels synched (the ones with the linkage rod attached). 2. Synch the secondary barrels ( the ones wit...

Re: Tool bag

This has just gotten too crazy. Ferrari purchased the bags from outside suppliers and from whomever was the lowest bidder. They bought the bags in batches and when a batch was gone, a new purchase order was let out. As much as we would like, there was no consistantcy in the minor details of the tool...

Re: Fuel Pump(s) Reliability

Facet/Bendix pump 476087E is the SAME pump that Ferrari used when they switched over from the Fispa pumps in the late 60s. It is the old "silver cap" Bendix pump.
